Okay time for another swimbait modification. I was just going to do the mod myself and not make a tutorial but someone asked that I did so here we are  I have to start off by saying that I completely got this idea from T Dot, I feel dumb for not thinking of it before as I love tweaking baits. This is a modification to take the S-Wavers notoriously narrow glide and widen it out a bit. The lure already has a lot of bang for your buck punch, but with this I have the feeling that it will make it and even better $17 well spent. It is extremely easy to do and if you dont stop to take pictures like me can probably be done in under 5 minutes. Lets get started.

Tools and Supplies

S-Waver

Rotary Tool

Measuring Tape

Sharpie

Paper (optional)

Pretty straight forward, I should mention with the rotary tool I used a grinding stone and not a sanding belt. I would recommend you do the same, it cut the plastic very fast but most importantly at no point took away to much nor left me with jagged edges, unless you have some 200+ grit sand paper stick to a grinding stone.

Measuring Up (optional)

Here is where that paper comes in. You do not have to do this step but I did for two reasons. I wanted to know how much extra freedom of movement I was getting, and also to show all you how much of a difference the mod made. All you do is put a straight line down a piece of paper. Place the S-Waver along said line, move the rear section all the way to the left and mark it, and to the right and mark it. As you can see our baseline tail movement was 2 7/8" ignore the smaller dot on the right.

Going Under The Knife

This is really pretty easy. All you have to do is mark on each side a line that you plan to cut to. It is really easy to cut to far and not realize it so it is always good to have a reference point. Also always run short, you can always take more (which i ended up doing), adding back can be tricky. All you do is cut down until you cannot see your line anymore

Here is my first marking it is about 1/16" thick, It should be noted that I went back and made a second cut afterwards as I was unhappy with the initial pass.

Take your time and make it nice, smooth and level.

Here is what we got.

You can really see the difference here.

Lets Finish Up

Repeat this for both side and make a second pass if you see fit. If you are interested in seeing what kind of progress you made throw it back on your paper and re-mark as you can see my spread got out to 3 5/8" which should give it a pretty nice increase in glide distance.

And while I forgot to take a before picture, you can see that it almost has the kick of a negotiator, which before it was a far cry from.

Thats an awesome idea.

Making a sleeper bait even better. Since it was conpared to a RM, I wonder if anyone is ballsy enough to try this on a Negotiator? Take enough material off and then give enough slack on the glide freakin make it turn so far it could actually swim away from you!?? I'd be down to try if I can find a beat enough Negotiator to expirement on.
