post-5068-1425300174898_thumb.pngIts hot 104 degrees today!!!! Fished swimbaits as a topwater for a hour before I found a good pattern that worked. They would not hit anything that I worked on top. The bite was good , no problem today getting a limit after I . This is the first 5 fish limit since I started this. They were feeding and I was in the right place. I have found out the bigger baits 8" and up are a little more difficult to work. The best method for the Spro Floater BBZ 8" was to get it about 5"-6" below the surface and work it back twitching and maintaing that zone. That put the Spro BBZ Hitch color about two foot above the grass which was the ticket to getting bit. The 3:16 Wake Jr. Trout did the rest same pattern. They are pounding the shad and pushing them to the surface just off the grass line. Cant wait to hit them again tomorrow They are stacked up in there.

Day 9 the fish were still in that grass it was a fast (5) fish limit this morning. It was over by 8:00 am no wind today and already hot. The 3:16 Jr pulled the bigger fish out. Had 9 total, just a good solid bunch very thankful! Swimbaits are so much fun to fish with. I have a 3:16 FS SS Shad and a 7" Bull Shad on the way these should be great on the edge of the grass line I'm thinking.

Day 10 another hot one 105 today, fished early and fished a under water ridge with grass. Had to work for the fish today 4hrs. and did'nt limit (5) until 9:30 but good fish again. Watching the BIG moon set and the Sun rise was pretty awesome. Used the 3:16 Chartreuse Shad Baby Wake exclusivly to get the bite today my arm was tired from throwing the big boys. A break was welcomed! The biggest was right at 4Lbs. and completly engulfed it see pic #2. You couldn't see anything but line when boated. After lipping her the Baby Wake came right out hardly hooked. Figured it was gonna be bad on the fish trying to get it out. Best consistant pattern was to make the tail slap the water when twitched that seem to trigger the best strikes. Have been doing it on the Wake Jr. the baby Wake is a little harder but once you get the rythem is second nature. Fish count today was 8 and two really good boils but no contact! That really gets the heart pumping..

Day 11 the best day so far. Fished brim beds this morning. My buddy told me all about all the Brim he was catching on his fly rod around 10 am. My thought was if there is that many beds there will be Bass showing up to hunt them down at some point. One could say the Bass are getting revenge from their spawn earlier in the spring when the brim are sucking down eggs and fry as fast as they can. Lions vs. Hyenas thing. No love lost between the two.

Decided to go with the Spro BBZ-1 In Trout color figuerd that was the closest thing I had to resemble anything close to the brim color. My arsenal is still building and I now have a perch free style on the way Thanks SU. Headed out at 5:30 am to hopefully get there for the morning masacure, if it was to even happen at all. After all he never said anything about catching any bass at all. I surely wasn't going too mess with his fly rod brim fishing never even on my radar. My mind was set on the Bass all the way. Remeber the movie the Ghost in the Darkness. The pictures tell the story of the rest of the morning. Best way to get bit for me was just a straight wake swim retreive 7:1 gives off a good faint rattle and all heck broke loose for the two hours I could fish. Thanks for the support SU.

Nothing big happening this morning except snake encounter right off the bat! (all snakes are King Cobras to me) and 2 gray fox's were dukein it out up on the bank the female was really pissed. From where i see it he had a all nighter and she wasn't happy. There was also the pleasant aroma of skunk in the air that I couldn't seem to get away from no wind at all, it just lingered forever. Back to reality just one fish on my new 8" SS Bull Shad this is a really nice bait first time to use it.

Day 13 Relief in the form of a small cool front with a light north wind! This was the first day the morning air temp was not in the mid 80's already. It was a nice 67 degrees! But it did effect the bite a little. Had to go back too the brim beds, that was just to much fun. Fished there a good hour no action and no brim. Must have caught the end of the brim spawn the other day. Starting usually around 5:30am I had no fish today until around 6:45am that was my first bite. I thought i had my first bass of the day on my new Black on Black Mini Slammer. To my surprise a good Crappie instead, this was one hungry Crappie! And on a Slammer!. I couldn't get the bass out of the grass either so the next option was hitting the wood. Isolated trees seem to be the ticket for a bass bite, they were not big fish but I did manage to pull off a few. Mini Slammer seemed to work better on my 5:3 ratio than the 7:1 with a pause and twitch thrown in randomly. Another bait added to the arsenal. Thanks to all of you that I have delt with on the Black Market you have been great.
