Day 14 New lure 3:16 SS Shad.... Great action - fished it several ways and the sink rate is perfect for the way I am fishing. Didn't get to fish long this morning about 45 minutes but I found a few so I'm still going. Last fish was a Channel Cat see flipside.

Did manage to run out of OFF this morning so had to dig through the cabinet for some more bug repellant all I could find was a sunscreen/bug combo lotion. Well I didn't rub it in very good and before you know it I had a hatch of some kind of little white bugs about #22 stuck all over me. Great way to start the day bug guts all over me from trying to get them off. When it was light enough to see it was bad millions of them. Looked like I had been tared and feathered, sorry no selphies here...

Day 15 in the books. Gizzard SS Bull Shad , No top water bite this morning so I went deep fishing humps no wind so it was easy to stay around them. I had to be versital to keep things going, adjust quickly so I can get off to work. If the morning outing doesn't provide a catch, the evening is there for me to hopefully rebound. Bank and Boat are both utilized in this usually a time thing on which determines which way I go. This mornings pattern: there was not top water bite I have learned that you can never depend on the top water bite. It may be there it may not.

Plan #2 hit the humps we are in full Summer pattern here with the heat. There is about 8" grass growth on the sides and bottom of the lake around the humps. Throwing the Gizzard Bull Shad SS letting it hit the bottom then start working it back slowly just above the grass and ticking it at times. Yes I had to clean off the Bull Shad every cast. But the times that contact was made there was never a thought about the grass after that. These fish were killin it when they bit! There was no mistake "Grass or Bass" You can't be scared to throw them deep.

Day 16 Rain coming in went from 101 degress to 77 in a hour very much needed... first rain of August for us. Fished my 3:16 Kokanee Baby Wake that I got from MCM83 he said it still had some Mojo and he was right. Good SE wind this morning 10-15 mph so I decided to hit some points casting back into the wind wakeing across them. The top water bite was back today wakeing it was the ticket. You had to put the 3:16 Baby Wake dang near on the point bank with every cast or they would not touch it, They were Kissn rocks I figured. Made me a little nervous casting up there but I never hit the rocks . Just a slow wobble did the trick. One fish I swear was sitting there with his mouth open waiting for it to come on in, he was good at anticipating the fall. Probably still has a headache, bloody nose and a black eye these things aren't light. Another good limit but still trying to find the BIGS.

Day 17 Fishing was really slow, swimbait bite tough! Started the day with overcast light north wind then from the east then the lord decided to cleanse me. Heavy Rain for a good hour then wind switched back to the north. No lighting so I stuck it out I had only one fish at 8:00 and it was a crappie on 3:16 FS FL Delta Demon (see Delta Demon Crappie on Flipside). Finally got a bass to bite a dink! Had missed three already so I was passed getting skunked! Never thought I would be so happy to see a 12" fish in the boat but I was. Hungry for a bigger bass switched to the 3:16 FS SS Shad in Blue Shad color business started picking up they were scatterd as I assumed with the weather and not aggressive, but I did manage to get a few in. Rain never felt so good.

Day 18 Couldn't fish this morning had to be at work early so I was left with afternoon fishing only. Another rain storm north of us but it did cool things down a bit. 3:16 FS SS 6" White Shad was the ticket today over grass beds let it sink and rip it up and it would get blasted! All these fish came within a 100 sq ft area, a good school stacked up down there. The biggest bass of the month for me as well 5.22. Good hour and half fishing today.

Day 20 Finally got my fellow SU member to get up early to go fish and try to get him into a good one. It took my 8lbr to do it but he was there waiting on me. I had two dinks but I was putting pressure on him. Well he struck gold just as I was having to go back and go to work. G-man Great job! on the 3:16 FS Trout I was a blast watching the fantastic tail walk she did and see your excitement Great Fish dude! LOL he looks calm and cool in the pic but he was one excited young man.

Like so many others her on SU, I'm enjoying the heck out of this thread. Chris obviously is an experienced fisherman and where good fishing knowledge intersects with big baits, great things can happen. Keep the string going!
