Shimano Reels: Calcutta Conquest (low pro round reel) vs Curado DSV / Calcutta D

I believe he's talking about quality of components within the reel overall. In which case, yes, the D is not on the same level.

The older Conquest are no doubt awesome reels, if you have the patience to deal with saving a little longer, i'd opt for the new Conquests! Howevere, the Conquest/TE line is tough to beat if you can score a good deal. Great reels

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

I see a ton of Shimano Calcutta Conquests 301F... but after looking further into the 301F it doesn't seem to be the same and the one in this thread... am i wrong? whats the difference?

The one pictured in this thread is the newest 2015 model.

Typically the "F" models were designed for saltwater boat fishing, where dropping heavy jigs to the bottom quickly is common practice. The braking system generally only consists of two pins, and isn't really designed to be a casting reel. The newer 2015 F (Ocea) series actually do include 4 pins in the braking system and could be used as a casting reel. The handle that comes on the reel however, is possible to engage the reel during a cast because of the weight.

The past model 301's are tough to find. People who have them, usually don't give them up. the RH models are much easier to get ahold of.
