Was there any info regarding the differences between the production H?

If there was, I don't remember seeing anything on it. So I'd also be curious if there are discernible differences between the production H models and these newer workshop white label H models.

Hopefully a few XXHs will be built and made available. Need a new yellowtail rig to match up with my tranx.

There will be a XXH and you'll be very impressed with it, its my go to rod right now.

The workshop rods are lighter in weight and have a slower taper than the production rods.

Picked up one of these from the site, but haven't had a chance to use it yet because of the ice. Any first impressions from anyone who has fished it a bit?

Bruce and I have fished the H and XXH blanks and really like them they are a nice step up from the productions rods

  • 3 weeks later...

Sucks for the guys that have waited months to years for their rods when dudes are getting rods built in 2-3 weeks

I'm not defending wait times at all but I think you're making an assumption that the workshop rods are effecting wait times of others. From what I've heard the workshop rods are wrapped by people trained by LDC. They can only wrap workshop rods so in reality they do not change the wait times of productions and custom orders.

How accurate are the weight ratings for the H rods? I'm curious if it can handle trebled baits in the 5-6 oz range.

Well first off it depends also on what line etc.... A deps w 65# braid on a prod H might feel less boodly than a deps250 w 25lb mono... I.e. my LDC prod. H from 2 years ago feels overpowered w 25lb mono and a deps... But w braid. Felt a little stouter obviously due to pess stretch. What im getting at is it might feel ok for 1 person but that person might have siff style diff reel doff line. Different way of casting..

You're right different people have different opinions but if that were the case wouldn't almost every answer on this forum be useless? We speak about what we've had experience with and people are able to form their own options based on their usage and results after that.

I fish the 250 on the workshop H with a Daiwa z200 w/ 20lb copoly. In my opinion the bait is does not overpower the rod.

You mentioned the 250 and 65lb braid do you throw it on that regularly?
