flaswimbaiter
These instructions are for uploading pictures from your hard drive, posting via Photobucket (or other photo websites) and uploading YouTube videos. If you have any additional input please reply to this post or if you have questions, please contact myself or the administrator. Photo size: SU has limitations on the size of the photos that can be uploaded. If you are uploading directly from your hard drive the picture cannot be over 700 pixels high or wide. When posting a link from a photo website, the photo cannot be any larger than 650 pixels high or wide. Resizing Photos: Here are some different methods of resizing your photo before uploading them. If you prefer to use a photo website, you can resize it on your hard drive, upload it to a photo website, and then use the address multiple times for different forums or uses. You can also use Photobucket to resize the photo. VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THAT BEFORE YOU EDIT ANY PHOTO THAT YOU COPY/BACK UP THE PHOTO OR “SAVE AS†AND RENAME THE FILE. OTHERWISE YOUR ORIGINAL PHOTO WILL BE RESIZED AND UNRECOVERABLE. Option 1 & 2, resizing photo on your hard drive using Paint or Microsoft Picture Viewer (MPV). Paint comes with most Windows builds and should be your default picture viewer. If this is the case open the picture with Paint, select the Home tab, chose resize. A Resize and Skew window will display, select Pixels and make sure that “Maintain Aspect Ratio†box is selected. Change the highest number of the Horizontal or Vertical to either under 700 for uploading from your computer or under 650 for uploading to a picture website and hit enter. The picture will be resized, save and then upload. You can also crop you picture by choosing the “Select†button, then using your mouse to select the area to crop, then selecting the crop button. It would be best to do this before resizing it. If you have Microsoft Office then you should have Microsoft Picture Viewer (MPV). This program is more versatile then paint, you can crop, resize, compress and adjust the brightness and color. To resize select Picture from the main menu then Resize. The Resize window will display, the pixel total will be at the bottom. Reduce the percentage until the highest number is less than 650 or 700 depending on how you want to upload the photo. Save and upload. Option 2, resizing using Photobucket. While in Photobucket select your photo, then edit. Once on the edit page you can make many adjustments such as size, contrast, color and crop. Once you select resize the window below will display. As long as “Keep Proportion†is selected, if you change the larger of the two numbers in the red circle to 649, the other number will adjust. You can save a copy or overwrite the original with the new adjusted photo. Uploading Photos from Your Hard Drive Open a new post or reply, select browse under the “upload attachment†portion of the webpage. A window will pop up that allows you to select your resized photo. Uploading a picture by using the link/address from a photo website. Open a reply or new post. Select the “Img†button (red arrow on picture below), “†will display in the text box. To post the picture you will need to paste or type the complete address within the brackets. Very important! If you have any spaces between the address and brackets it will not display the photo. ** NOTE: If you want to test if the image will display correctly, chose the “Preview†button below the text box and it will show what you post will look like before you submit it. However, if you have upload from your hard drive and do not have any text within the box you will receive an error, type at least one word within the text box while testing the photo. Obtaining the address of your picture from a photo website. There are different step that can be taken to access the address, but with any picture or website the most basic form is to place your mouse on the photo then right click, then select properties. Then highlight and copy the address. Once you have copied it go back to SU and paste the address between the brackets. In photo bucket if you run your mouse over a picture a drop down menu will display, if you click on the “Direct Link†box it will automatically copy the address you need. Posting YouTube Videos. Open a reply or new post; select the “youtube†button shown by the yellow arrow in the picture below. “ †will display in the text box. Go to YouTube and select your video, copy the address from the address bar at the top of the screen, go back to SU and paste the address between the brackets. The same rules apply as posting pictures; make sure there are no spaces. If you select preview the movie should display like the following example.
