Zealandhunter Posted December 31, 2016 Report Share Posted December 31, 2016 Went up to Clearlake for the last 3 days and had a pretty awesome trip! I almost got skunked the first day and barely got some fish on a drop shot but then the second day my dad and I found a loaded spot midway through the day and it was game over. I got a few at the spot on a drop shot and decided to pick up the 68 and a few minutes later I got my first real hudd fish(I've gotten some in loaded private lakes)! It was probably around 4 pounds. At that point I was super stoked and got what I wanted but then about 10 minutes later in the same spot I was slow rolling the same 68 as slow as I could and felt the smallest tick and set the hook and my rod loaded but then just stopped like I set the hook into a rock, I started winding and could tell it was huge but didn't know how big. Once my dad netted it I was kinda in shock because I knew I might have just gotten a DD but I didn't have a scale so we went and borrowed one from someone else, the fish weighed in at 10.2 I was so stoked after that I could barely fish😂. I got a few more on a drop shot that day then the next day, I headed to the same spot and was throwing the 8 in hudd, after about an hour, I felt another tick, set the hook and it was on, I had landed another big one, this one weighing in at 7.1-7.5 (scale would not choose). Then to end it off, we were fishing shag with spoons and got into a crazy catfish bite with a few 15 pounders! That was fun!! I don't know how I would have done if I didn't find that spot. It was all luck! And to top it off, I was stuck sitting the whole time because I am still recovering from hip surgery! Maybe it's good luck for a cripple?
