I think it's the right time for another update:

I've slimmed the bait down quite a bit since my last post...it's been hard to find the time to work on it much though because I took on a full time intern position over the summer. Plus all the computer work has made my hands ache and hurt when I carve for too long.  :(

But finally finally finally, I have started onto the detailing! And I immediately found that the wood I am using is not very well suited for small, detailed scaling. The softness of the wood made the scales come out not as clean as I had hoped. I'd love for you guys to provide feedback...yay or nay? I'm going to continue on for now and see how it looks completely scaled. Then I'll finish polishing the head and hopefully be ready to make my first prototype.

I'm scrambling to finish this project before an upcoming trip to Clear Lake August 10th, so feel free to go ahead and keep me accountable on that haha! It's going to be really tight

Thanks for all your support! Enjoy!

I've finally reached the tuning/testing prototype phase! Hoorah!

As many of you who follow my endeavors on Instagram know, I encountered quite a few problems getting from detailing the bait to where I am now, including but not limited to: cracking/flaking wood, expired modelling clay and silicone mold, ordered materials getting lost in the mail, accidentally grabbing the epoxy to pour my first prototype instead of the resin, etc etc. There was a lot of stress involved with school starting up and disappointment after not being able to make a deadline due to bad materials...but all the hardship just made me that much more determined to complete the task and gave me even more appreciation for what I was trying to accomplish.

I'm still pretty far from finishing I think, but with the whole carving and molding process finished I can finally focus on making this bait functional and fish-worthy! Progress will be slowed with classes in session and dwindling materials, but I already have one prototype pumped out and am currently experimenting with joint style and weighting. I've logged in one swim test session so far and already like the swim better than that of my previous version, so that's already one big improvement!

As always, your input is more than welcome! If you were making or ordering this bait yourself, what is one thing that you would have changed or installed?

Excuse the blurry pictures...I was working in low light most of the time

Thanks for the support!

Dan
