Well I beat the summer heat... On accident. Lol.. To set up the story, I was out bank fishing a completely new lake on 8/3. Really just testing out my new Dockrat Glide, I got in a trade from a cool dude in LA. Anyways, i through the glide up over a low hanging branch and when the bait swung back towards me it hooked onto the line on my side of the tree. Unreachable. Instead of trying to rip it out of the tree, i cut my line at the reel and tied it to a root that was sticking out of the bank by my feet.. I tied on a Taquito and tossed it at the hanging Dockrat disaster... Not entirely sure what my plan was, but i had just gotten the bait that day, so i wasnt thinking straight. Anyways, the burrito landed in the perfect part of the tangled mess and stuck.. Now i tried ripping... All at once the tree limb pops, the baits shoot back towards me and the "root" that i had tied my line to, was actually just a stick in the mud... The Dockrat sank to the bottom of the pond ten feet in front of me. Im not much for wading into water in South Carolina, gators and all, and since this was a new lake, I wasnt risking it.. I through my Taquito a few times dragging bottom, but couldnt find it. I left sad... Jump forward to 8/5. I returned to the scene of the disaster to try with a heavier lure to snag my glide.. Tied on a 7.5 in Rago weedless(in Bone color) w/ 12/0 Beast Hook, and tossed it out about 10-15 yards past where i thought my bait was.. let it sink to the bottom and Hudd crawled that "Not Allowed" all the way in... im sure this thing was just draggin on its side. SO SLOW... about right where i thought my bait was I caught on something.. popped the rod and the Rago came free... no lure. Reeled up quick. Cast exact same spot.. same result.. little snag.. pop the rod. . no glide... Third time.. Same cast.. Same snag... This time when i popped through the snag, i got SMOKED!!! That big girl pulled!! I thought that I might have hit a Bowfin, because she ran so fast.. We fought her all the way to the bank, where she wrapped herself up in some roots. The beast hook was sticking out her nose, she wasnt going anywhere. Had to get over my fear of wading in the gator's world.. 11.0 lbs

GET the F out of here!  That is an awesome story dude.  So, bait still lost, but new PB....hmm.  Since had you never lost the lure you would have not caught this girl....was it worth it?

I guess you can still work on finding that lure.  Who the hell knows.....maybe you repeat and get another giant!

This also speaks to something I believe and that's hitting prime spots repeatedly, from the same angle, relentlessly. Based on the assumption that good fish are there and it stands to reason not every giant is going to commit on the first pass...or even the second.

Thanks Keepin it Reel! Bait is still lost... or as I like to think of it.. the bait was never meant for me to use.. only meant as a guide to this big girl..

To comment on being repetitive.. or using the same line of cast... I am really new to this, but I have gotten most of my big bites on the second, third or even tenth cast.. sometimes they'll bite it right away and let go, and still come back on cast five or six and smash it..

I'm sorry guys.. the dates I have above are one week ahead of the actual timeline... my early twenties were way too much fun ...forgive the memory...let's be historically accurate! 7/27 I lost the lure. 7/29 I caught the fish. Lol
