Mag Strong Gill

I went out Friday morning straight from work to get some fishing in. I had received my Mag Gills earlier in the week and had been eagerly awaiting to fish them.

I ended up catching 3 that day. My goal was to be out there all day but I ended up calling it quits just a little past noon. Its the last week of summer before school starts here and battling all the boaters was becoming a bit much for me.

I finally got into a good fish. It has been a long time since I've hooked into a solid one. I had just finished casting into a boat garage with no luck. The garage is followed by a long bank of rip rap. The rip rap is new. Prior to it was just a rickety seawall. In between my boat and the bank is some vegetation. First cast into the rip rap. I get a bout 5 turns of the handle in of just a steady retrieve and WHAM! From just the way the fish hit the bait I knew I had a good fish on. As I'm reeling in I notice the fish is trying to head towards the front of my boat. I guide it away from the trolling motor and land it. It went 5-13, just shy of 21" and 15" girth. A really good looking stocky fish.
