SwimBaitGary
I was wondering if the tranx is a good swimbait reel and what your experiences with it are and if you have a friend or know anyone who was had it, is there a better swimbait reel out there for the $280-300 and under budget? Thanks
Shimano77
I've got a 300 and 400. They have been great so far.
waynem
I've got a 300 and 400. They have been great so far. Do both feel equally comfortable when casting? I believe the 400 is just a wider frame. Also if you were to buy another would you get the 300 or 400 size? Thanks in advance.
Shimano77
They are both comfortable, with the 300 being slightly larger than a metanium mgl. I fit low profile reel covers on each 300/400, which shows they are not bulky. I have the 300 on a mh low down custom rod and it's my favorite setup. jakevlastnik
10/10 would recommend tranx freshwater and saltwater Rod Wynn and Rmcgrath
MillerDaPikeKiller
Love my Tranx 400!
Striped king
I love my 400. Only thing I would recommend is get the paddle handle . I don't like the way the power handle feels . Only downside of the reel for me . Rod Wynn
Mountainryan
I have no reason to need a 400. 300 holds plenty of line is smooth and I've casted a bunch of stuff. I like it for my heavy setup, just feels heavy to me which isn't bad for the bigger stuff
Rogervang
What would be an ideal weight limit that you guys are comfortable throwing on the
peter_the_fox
Tranx 300 is a beast! I've thrown double dawg pounders on that reel with no problem - muskie bait that weights legit 1 pound with no problems. That reel is bullet proof and is just perfection. 300 holds 150 yards of 50 lbs braid too so can't complain Morph808
bassfiend72
Probably just me. Tranx 300 has really sharp edges. I just didn't like how my thumb felt when casting.
bigbaitollie
I have the 300 and I absolutely love it!
Rod Wynn
- IMO the 300 is perfect size for any line up to 25lb test - I also feel that the HG is too fast and I will be going to all the slower speed models
