atharrison
I've got a quick question about split rings that won't take too much input. I picked up these vmc line tie split rings in a tear drop shape and I wanted to know if I could use them for hooks, I need split rings for hooks and wasn't sure if these would work. I don't have any other kind right now and if I don't have to I dont want to pay $2 for some on tw and have to pay $6 shipping. Any input would be appreciated. luckycraft
That size split ring is for conventional gear like crankbaits/jerkbaits. If you use them on a swimbait and hook into a large fish you're gonna get your feelings hurt. Get yourself some owner hyperwires in sizes 5, 6, and 7 and you will have just about everything covered. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!! bigpoppabass

swole_t
17 lb test split rings? I wouldn't use them
danthefisherman
Take no chances. A few bucks is a small price to pay when your pb is literally on the line. azsouth
marc626
The design and and brand are ok. Just the lb. (Pound). Atleast 30lb for LMB. If there are other predatory species in your spot then match it.

HelpMePickABobber
Depends on line/lure in my opinion. If you're fishing 15lb test and a six inch bullshad I really don't see any reason to use 75/100 pound split rings.
Csweitzer
Go heavy on the split rings. The worst thing about them is that they'll break on you when that fish is at the boat. I've lost 2 DD's because I skimped out on split rings. I was catching bass to 7lbs no problem, but those true giants can and will find your weak spot! bigpoppabass
Btw don't ever use a split ring that doesn't regain its original shape. A thick loop on some hooks often warps a ring too small for it.
Good Year 71
Too light and wrong style. This is designed to be stressed from single point of contact, hence line tie. A round ring absorbs stress equally throughout. This does not. It will bend out.
