Went out fishing to fish the last underground tournament that was had. Ever since I started fishing this lake it has been a goal to catch one of these. Launched straight to my milk run as soon as I got the lake.

Usually I like using the wind at my back to push the boat. It was just windy enough where the boat would be moving too fast. So into the wind for this scenario.

Fished the first part of the bank and blanked. I got the boat in position where a point and swim beach meet. Casted in between them and started my retrieve. Half handle turns. I get my retrieve about half back to me and"BOOM" lean into it and set the hook. I tell Bassin8r get the net. From the hook set I knew I had a good fish. Like setting the hook into a stump but fought back. Once the fish was in the boat I just couldn't believe the size of it.  I had heard of people catching 7-8s here. Fish went 11.41 on my scale.

What did you do to the handle of the rod to make it look like that of the DRT rods? Sweet fish but man that grip is awesome. I would love to do that to a couple of mine so I don’t lose the set up when my hands go numb from the cold lol.
