hroth33
Been looking into the maverick series in particular. Definitely leaning towards the 8'3" moderate action. Planned on using for mainly my wake baits. Just curious if anyone has any experience with it and how it compares to other rods in the same price range. Nick S.
Ceaser has a couple videos up on YouTube reviewing them that are worth checking out. They might be in the SUTV section as well.

SO. ILL. Lures
I have the Maverick 8'6'' xh and it throws baits up to around 8oz with ease any thing more is a little sketchy. I have a daiwa dxsb that's in the same price range and the spirallite is 1000000 times better. Edited February 25, 2018 by SO. ILL. Morph808
I just bought the Maverick 8ft Heavy-Mod Fast and took it out to New Melones Lake today. Didn't catch anything with it but it is a pleasant rod to throw with all day! Blank is light but still tip heavy (as with all long rods) but by no means unreasonable. Messed around with a few glides and even a Hudd 68. I didn't have anything heavier than a Hudd 68 ROF5 to throw, but even then it handled it well. Definitely meant for treble hooked baits. I emailed Spiralite for suggestions and they recommended this stick for sub 4oz baits. Build was clean too. Rod is split grip with a Winn grip on the handle and foam for the but part (8'3" and longer rods are full grip I think). Blanks are raw finished. Guides are not tangle-free versions. Only comes as spiral wrap to the left. Sensitivity is very good for 30T blank as I could tell whether my Hudd was ticking rocks or just passed over a laydown. Length from center of reel seat to the butt end is 15.5", the same as a Fury 795. For the price, it is a sweet stick. I haven't done it yet but I am planning on doing a video review of that and the Defiant 8'3" heavy that I got for Hudds specifically. _jeffe_33
Got a 8'3" maverick recently and paired it with a Luna 300. The telescopic model slides down to just a little bit over 7' which is super clutch. No fish on it yet but it has a very nice action and throws different weight baits exceptionally well. A+ customer service when ordering, definitely worth a serious look if you're in the market! Morph808 and Primus
ATBass
I fish an 8'3 maverick (usually I'm throwing rats, Triple Trouts, Punkers, any weedless baits that call for a 10/0-12/0, occasionally ill throw a glide) , and I absolutely love it. I'm fairly new to big baits, only been chucking them for for about half a year, but I've put a lot of fish on that rod fishing a 4 oz rat. (I'm fishing mostly in a float tube, and let me tell you, theres an art to landing fish on the tube with an 8'3 rod and a 3+oz bait hanging out of their mouth. lol) Had a lot of those fish spit the rat right at the tube at first, until I found a couple bent trebles (stock hooks, rookie mistake) after a night that I crushed em on it, probably had around 12 bites that night... changed the hooks to ST 56s, and now it is dialed. All in all, the rod fishes hard baits really nicely, but I try to stay away from small diameter hooks, and my hook to land ratio has increased quite noticeably since doing so. Can't speak much on the soft bait game for this rod, specifically the stuff fished on the bottom like huds, as my rod only has one soft bait fish under its belt ..(6.75 WRS mid column) It did handle it no problem though, had to swing the fish over a dock railing that was 6ft above the water, the fish was only like 4 lbs but I felt like I couldve swung a 10 over that railing. Hope this helps Primus
ISO_the1
Hype is wearing off, Caesar has stepped away, hearing more and more issues coming up. But i don't own one so take that into consideration
Primus
what kind of issues ?
rogers954
I'm interested in hearing about the issues as well as I was considering adding 1-2 of these to my lineup since the prices are so low.

Maybe it's a case of "You get what you pay for"? Although my daiwa DX have exceeded my expectations for a 100$ rod lol

Ceaser
I have a couple dozen rods. Only issues I have had are some of the tip inserts falling out but spiralite will send flanged tips for replacement upon request. I took a step back from the role I was playing but I still 100% love the product and am working on a Toxic Baits travel rod with them. Most complaints have came from people buying the 99-125$ maverick series and imo expecting too much out of a rod in that price range. I haveent heard any complaint on the Defiant series. That being said I use the maverick/defiant series equally and some of my favorite rods are mavericks. hroth33, Morph808, CaliBassin and 1 other 2
Loganodum38
so i ordered the 8'6 telescopic sunday night and just checked my email for tracking and it says tuesday OCT 30. now you could argue im nit picking since this isnt even about the rod itself, but i just find it odd that TW carries everything but their swimbait rods so i couldnt order from TW who offers free shipping and $5 2 day, but i had to pay $20 for 7 day shipping and didnt even see an option for quicker shipping (even though it would probably be an ungodly amount).
