Evergreen Combat Sticks

TW has the Brett Hite Combat Sticks for $199. Looking at the 7'11" Heavy 1/2-2oz Fast taper

- would use it as a rod for small soft plastics. 4.8" Keitech, WRS, Minnows etc.

Anyone have any experience with these rods? Also interested in other rods in this class if anyone has recommendations

I had the 7'3" glass model but sold it. Good rod for chatterbaits of course but I found it did quite well throwing small treble hook swimmers as well like the triple trout gill, mini slammer, 5" bull shad, etc. Even though it's not a Japanese made evergreen, the build quality was superb. My rod was a little tip heavy but that was no surprise since it was the glass model. My biggest complaint was the reel seat, the Fuji acs is not for me. In the end, I sold because despite its versatility in bridging the gap between chatters and small trebled swimmers, it never really replaced my preferred rod for either category. I'd think the 7'11" you are looking at would be great for small soft swimmers and several conventional techniques, though I've never handled one so this is speculation on my part. If it had a different reel seat on it I'd maybe give the 7'11" a go myself

I have the fairy wand version of it and its my favorite conventional rod, super high quality build and awesome components. The blanks are super nice and it seems to be very durable. The one complaint is that the grips can get a little slippery with some fish slime and water mixed in to it
