Mwnfishing
Joined a few months ago and i've been lurking since. Figured i'd make my first post. I've been trout fishing pretty much my entire life but just recently got serious about bass fishing in the last year and a half or so. I've been catching plenty of smaller fish and recently got my kayak all setup. I figured from all the posts i've seen on here and on facebook, i'd give swimbaiting a shot because i know there are some big bass here in Arizona! I wanted to start targeting bigger fish so I recently picked up a guide select and an abu amb sx reel. I bought a couple of hudd 68's, an s-waver 168 and a few other cheap baits. Going to try to keep it simple and start with a handful of baits. Thinking of picking up a decent wake bait and maybe a deps 175 and call it good for now. Can't wait to see where this journey takes me as I learn a new technique! Tight lines!

mcaetano2905
... Thinking of picking up a decent wake bait... Decent wake bait = MS Slammer. Ok, it's not decent, it's maybe the best! I have the 7", but all the good swimbaiters say you'll get just about as many bites on the 9", and overall it's a better bait for bigger bass (but you'll still catch bass under 2lbs on it). chevro1et
I'm also just getting set for my first season of 'real' swimbait fishing. Here's what I have outlined for baits glidebait - Deps 175 and S-Waver 168 multi-segment - Jackall Gantarel, Bull Shad 7" or Strong Shad 7.5" or Triple Trout 7-8" Huddleston 68 undetermined 7-8" paddletail soft bait mcaetano2905
BassinOnTop
My biggest thing I learned my first year swim baiting was to not be afraid of the big massive baits even if they aren’t necessarily matching your forage. If the one and two pounders are attacking the 10†rat and 168, the 5+ pound grade fish will not think twice about slurping the S waver 200, deeps 250, plus the big 10+†rats. Also the wake bait is a really good call, but you might never want to put it down¡ my first top water big bait fish is the reason I fell so in love with this whole big bait thing. BassinOnTop
Spro rat in the 50 size is a great affordable first wakebait pickup
Mwnfishing
I've also got a gantarel and a spro rat 40. Next up for sure is a 175ss. Just gotta find the right one. I keep seeing everyone catch big ones in the winter and I'm just trying to stay patient. I haven't been out to our big lakes much in the last month, mostly just urban ponds. Been getting a crazy amount of followers on the hudd 68 and a few bites. Nothing to show for it yet.
