I recently purchased the 300. Not to small/big. I was torn between the 400/300 but when I held the 400, it was a little big for me to hold for throwing swimbaits all day. In addition the 300 feels more natural in my hand. I initially was debating between a daiwa lexa 300 and cardiff, but decided for cardiff because of the prce tag and wanted a round reel for swimbaits. Hope this helps. :ugeek:

The difference between a 300 and 400 size reel for me is what pound line and size baits I'm looking to throw. Also gear ratio for the retrieve.

The 400 cardiff felt significantly heavier than the 300. I have had both in the past but got rid of the 400 due to the size and weight. Pretty good beginner reel especially for the price. Swap out the bearings and drag washers and you'll be set. Might even be worth it to try and snag some used ones ths way you can try them both. You might be able to find a good deal on the board
