nightsessions
Hey i was wondernig how you guys like the Calcutta D series. Need to get a new reel and I'm considering this one. The only main negative i've heard of is the braking system, but i could get used to that. Main concern is casting distance and if it will hold up in salt water. Also will be pairing it with a LDC Production heavy throwing 10 inch TT's, 8 inch Hudds, Wake Jr, and Slide Swimmer 250 along with some smaller baits in hte future. Should i go with the 300 or 400 size?
flyforfish21
300 size, 400 is overkill for those baits. I personally feel the TE/conquest series is more solid for the money. This is based purely off what I have seen while working on them. All of them will hold up in saltwater if you take care of them. Just be smart about service and don't wait until something doesn't feel right. Geoff
jamesofthejungle
I own both the 300d and 400d and they cast like a dream. They are awesome reels regardless of brake system access. If you are just throwing the baits you stated get the 300.
jrodgers762
I have a 301D and 401D. Both are very smooth. It does suck if you have to adjust the brakes though. I love the giant handles and I think they are good reels overall.
