I have a south and its a really cool topwater bait, good deadsticking ability and waking. I havent used a negotiater but i have a lipless trick and it has pretty sweet action to it. Have fished the Negoatior top hook and bottom hook, both got bit and nice for a 7" glide. I do prefer the top hook, a bit more glide and less hang ups. As for color, you only state that it will be mostly daytime fishing and in both stained and clear waters....Suggest you go with a color that resembles the forage in the bodies of water where you fish (ie - perch, trout, etc). Otherwise, for the Negoitator a natural color such as AYU is good for clear water or Okiwamesu which has some chartruese in it and is good for slightly stained waters. You know what they say "If it ain't Chartruese, it's no use". For the South, the US Gill color is great or go with the Spring Gill. Good luck fishing!
