aasenke
Which rod would work best for 8" fs trout? I decided not to go with an xh bc decided that throwing a 10" fs in Illinois would be a bit overkill for bass!
Darth Baiter
Which rod would work best for 8" fs trout? I decided not to go with an xh bc decided that throwing a 10" fs in Illinois would be a bit overkill for bass! YOU decided , but the FISH didn't decide!! There are guys who have thrown those in areas where the fish supposedly aren't that big and caught big fish. Plus , with swimbaits you are looking for big fish anyway!! That all being said, I would still go with an XH.....
evans_usmc69
I use both, but the H is better suited for the 8" FS of the two. If the 8" fs is close to the biggest bait you are going to use the rod for, then get a MH. If you are going to be using a lot more baits(like an 8" hudd) over 4.5oz on the rod, then go with the H. Just my opinion Personally, I love the MH for an 8" FS and 10" TT. It also handles a hudd pretty decently, but it's definitely at the max of it's comfort range. You get a lot of load on the MH when you use a 4oz+ bait on it, some like that, others don't.
SPEEDBEAD
Get the H.
GRIZZ
Get the H. Then get the XH
Squid07
Get an Ugly Stik JK! Your better off getting an H or an XH. Nothing wrong with a MH at all because it throws an 8" freestyle just fine but with an H or XH you can throw those plus more.
SpamEggsandRice
I would go with the H. I personally have a Custom H paired to a Shimano Curado 300DSV for my lighter stuff. I use my XH for Hudds and TT paired with a Shimano Conquest 300. Hope that helps.
Bassman88
Get the H! I ordered the H and I plan on throwing similar lures. I was debating between the MH/H and Ben indicated the H is more suitable for my fishing style. Good luck with your decision.
Ceaser
id say XH, i use it for everything from 2.5 oz hard baits and small rising sons to arms and 8oz baits.
CombatWombat
The H would be suitable to your needs.

Bassindon69
Are you looking at custom? or production? They are not the same at all and I never saw you say one or the other.
aasenke
Okey dokey, again, thanks for all your input.
Bass Addict
if you are going to go the custom route, get in touch with Ben as soon as you are ready, they take about 3 months give or take depending on his to do list. Well worth the wait though. I have the xh and h 8' customs. I don't have much time on the H (just got it)but the XH i have landed some nice bass and some pretty big pike. I love the Xh for hudds, especially when just fishing the jig hook, the hookset power you get from a 8' XH ldc is incredible.
aasenke
Is the custom xh a more stiff blank than the production blank? Also everyone says get in contact with Ben. The only way on LDC's website to do that is through emailing sales... I want to talk to him. How would I go about doing that?
