Jut
Is any one else on a small swimbait bite???I cant get bit on any thing bigger then a baby wake. I can get some to follow but that's it. I been killing them on the small s-waver, 5"savage gear soft 4 play, shell cracker, and the weedless hudd shad. They wont hit a 6" hudd,68,wake jr 8"fs trout nothing they wont look at it. Im not complaining or any thing its just weird. There not small fish they are between 2 an 5lbs not huge either. Me an my friend are having 12 plus fish days.Any one else having realy good days? What bait is doing good for you?
Vedak
My bites have been on the morning wood rat. I think it's the same size as the baby wake minus worm tail. Had a few followers on a Deps 250. But all the same size as the bait. lol
slideaction
Like that here as well. Funny thing is I threw a 2in sassy shad and got bite by almost every fish lol

elnicko
Been doing well on the 68s. Greenback shad during the day and night stalker when the sun starts going down.
Mossypumpkin
I've been getting a few fish every time out. Mostly 2 to 4 pounders. Was getting them earlier this spring on the slammer, but now everything has been on the 6" and 8" hudd. Last outing I also missed about 5 fish on a 9" kong floater. Definitely turning into a hudd fan real fast! Now I just need to buy a small army of them
Ceaser
Hph, little rat, and mighty minnow have been doing work for me this year. Hph is a super bait for triggering fish that don't commit to other baits
Fishingallday31
Same, been on a really good 6 inch bait bite, hopefully I can pull up a few pigs from the deep with the hudd though.
godzilla
Its been super slow for me also. Havent gotten a bite in over a month. What happens after they spawn? Do they not eat anymore and recover first? I know the post spawn will be good but I remember reading bill Murphy's book and he mentioned that theres a time after spawning they will not eat at all for about a week. Seems to be longer than that right now.

Seems to be longer than that right now. Our waters have had a 2+ month "post spawn funk" now. Moving baits of any kind (that I own, at least) have proved an effective tool for fishless depression. Most of what I've read has implied that they become very inactive even up until a summer feeding pattern begins. I am now convinced that big baits are fantastic up to the spawn; after that, not so much. Hopefully your lull doesn't last as long as this one here has. Last year was better here, too. It's amazing how different it can be from year to year.

It can spread out a month or more. Actively feeding fish can almost always be found. Murphys book is my favorite Joe
SPEEDBEAD
Our funk usually lasts a week or so, luckily it seems to fall during the work week. Might sound funny to you, but try a rat bait. I prefer to target banks with trees hanging over a little deeper water. IMO, after they spawn they follow the same pattern back to the first break. Where/how I fish, this typically leads me to find them in the location mentioned above.
