elnicko
I know some guys like to change the tail on their TTs to a fluke or Fin s Fish, but has anybody tried a paddle tail like a Big Hammer or Fish Trap? I was thinking this would look cool but not sure the effect it would have on the action of the bait. Just curious what you guys think. Thanks. smalliebigs
Might depend on the size of the TT. I put a 10" worm on a 7" to approximate a snake. Swam really well, but I didn't really fish it enough though to say if it can catch fish or not. I imagine a paddle tail would work with similar resistance. Also tried it on a 4" stubby, but the bait couldn't really move the big worm.
elnicko
Ok, took Top Ramen's advice and went for it. Here's what I came up with: On the 8" I cut down a Roboworm EZ Shad and put it on. The bait is now about 9" long. On the 10" I cut down a 7" Big Hammer, making the bait around 11" total. The colors didn't really match up, but that was all I had laying around. Took them out to a local pond to test them out and really liked the new action on the 8". It tightened up the swim a bit and that paddle tail looks sick on the back and has alot of action on every kind of retrieve. The bait almost felt like a big ripbait and had alot less drag than the original. Definitely going to fish it like this for a while and see what happens. The 10" also had a more narrow S action to it, but I think the Big Hammer was a little too much for the bait. The tail looked cool, but didnt really fit in with the action of the rest of the bait. Maybe something with a smaller paddle would work better. Changed back to the original tail when I got home.
