Heavy float and slow sink versions of the 316 gill glide. I lost a giant at the boat this past summer on the SS. I plan to dedicate more time to these baits next season7 points -

Been a hot minute since I got a fish big enough to make me wanna post. This is my first fish over 4 lbs in over a year, mostly just from not being able to put in the time and not lining my fishing time up with optimal conditions but today I got out for a few hours in front of an incoming storm and nailed this big bellied beast. Definitely gave me the motivation to put in as much time as possible before winter is here. Hopefully I’ll get another post worthy fish before the end of the year but this was a fun one, tried to pull me under a big stump and had to wrestle her out, felt pretty sporty.5 points -

I just can’t pay $150 for a wood measuring board. Even a WCZ. No hate for those that love these at all. My pockets just aren’t that deep. I mean…if @Whammyand @JacksonFwant to split the cost for my Christmas gift…I’ll happily accept one…..3 points -

Dude, I still have a Burton skateboard backpack from around 2003. It has taken a ton of abuse, traveled back and forth from North America to Asia several times, and still is in fantastic condition. Probably the best construction, material selection, and functionality of any backpack I've ever owned.2 points -

I’m sure Mike saw all the sales of the boards going for big $$, so why not get his share this go round I looked into getting the veneer and vac bag kit to make my own. Wasn’t worth it for the initial investment plus you’d still have to finish them, screen em, seal em etc theyre $120 shipped, $30 of worth is shipping so the boards $90 which is still a fraction of what they were going for on the black market last season2 points -

Been sitting on this fish for a while but finally broke the DD mark. Got this fish in July on a toxic baits whippersnapper. I had been on a great crankdown bite when this one came up and smoked the SU snapper in about 18 feet of water over the top of some trees. I was lucky enough to watch the eat about 15 feet from the boat and have a quick net man to scoop her up without delay. Shimano Calcutta DC200hg Nameless Customs 795 Daiwa HC j-floro 18lb1 point

Went out and got some high 3s on the PG that were really filled out. Was really hoping to get a big one built like them. Fished an area of the lake I’ve never caught a fish and lost one that felt big, I was bummed and I thought I blew it. I went back an hour later with a big softbait, got bit, fought it quick, netted it and it came off in the net. Went 6.25, 2 oz shy of my pb.1 point -

Spiral guides
SumoNinja reacted to jakevlastnik for a topic
damn I didn't mean to start a war, I just like that it sits straight up when in the boat hahah the right handle and the first left guide keep it upright which probably isn't good for bank guys but I don't care if the guides are down on carpet. But ultimately I cant tell if there's a performance difference in it, I just build my stuff super minimalist so being able to shave 2-4 guides off a rod is a good enough reason for me1 point -

Dedicating my 5000th post to say thank you to the @swimbaitunderground crew and community for the continued effort in maintaining this forum as a platform for anglers to connect, learn from each other, keep up to date on latest news, and share in the common pursuit of big bass. I still remember stumbling upon Swimbait Underground through a Google search back in early 2015 when Swimbait Nation closed down. I was just starting to dive deeper into fishing swimbaits and was frantically trying to find a new space to learn and ask questions. SU was exactly what I was looking for. I especially want to thank all the seasoned members who took the time to answer share their insights with me back in the day, even if that meant to point me to the search bar. The Grassroots section fanned the creative flame within me, and even though my early swimbaits looked terrible being the broke kid that I was…other builders came alongside to help me improve and develop my skills. To top that off, one member saw that my brother and I barely had any gear and started a Christmas raffle to buy us our first swimbait sticks. A handful of other members rallied behind this to also donate reels and a few of our very first legit swimbaits…all items that we could not afford to buy. I will never forget this. It’s because of this community aspect that I have stuck around and really started to develop that love for swimbaits and pursuing bigger fish. What’s crackin’ when I’m not swimbaiting? I’m probably browsing SU or building baits…and it’s all you guys’ fault Thanks SU! Dan1 point -
