Mystical Morning Bite
FishDr and 4 others reacted to Payton Rehm for a topic
Went out with good friend this morning and debated on beating the bank! Haven’t been getting much luck up shallow at any lake so figured I’d throw the Mystic Weed K9 in glide mode B out in deeper water! Instantly got smoked by a 4.5 lber then shortly after got slammed by a 6.83 lber!!5 points -

Sweet c2c. Exactly where you'd think she'd be1 point -
Braid as a backing is okay to use up wasted spool space. As a main line however, braid is notorious for causing lure cast-off, especially considering baits can weigh 3+ oz. Just imagine - tossing a 4oz glide hard but then the line had buried itself into the spool, and so mid cast you hear and feel the dreaded "stop" and then see your lure go sailing by. Fluorocarbon and especially mono/copoly have more cushion and it doesn't bury as easily.1 point

First time using a crawler that wasn't pompadour Jr or the little bird Received it (DS Customs) and a replacement bull Gill glide on Monday and immediately took them out Water clarity was non existent due to an algae bloom but I was able to pick up 4 fish in a few hours, 2 on the gill glide and 2 on the crawler. Had another blow up on the crawler but it just knocked it 3-4' in the air Another big boil on a spro king daddy frog but for some reason 90% of the frog fish in the pond will miss the bait, and never return Throwing that crawler is a blast, hookup ratio is obviously way better than a frog and it comes through pads surprisingly well1 point

They work in dirty at least, I threw it for hours in another pond with crystal clear water and they wouldn't touch it. Frog sitting still for 30sec+1min was the only thing they would eat1 point

New Swimbait Reels
Morph808 reacted to danthefisherman for a topic
Looks like the Tatula 300XSL has a 42.9ipt retrieve…now that’s a fast reel! I would use this for topwater walking baits, burning multijoint swimmers, or big glides that cover a lot of water. The Calcutta is probably well suited for grinding crankdowns around cover or dragging a soft bait on bottom. Depending on what baits you want to throw and what your fishing style is, you might prefer one over the other. Either reel should be bulletproof and serve you well.1 point -

Vibrating blade on a SB
168 Rookie reacted to EL_ED51 for a topic
The chatter bait hook on the bottom come in packs of two, 4/0 hooks. I bought them, put a zoom fluke on it and threw it around the CA aqueduct. I changed out one of my 6' shad soft SB's. This thing has been melted, superglued, and mended, time for a new one. I grabbed the bottom hook and put it on the SB, threw it in my bag and forgot about it. Saturday night, I had a few minutes before I left, packing up at the lake. I put the black halfwit away and noticed the old SB with the chatterbait hook. So what the heck, threw it on my rod and chucked it. An of course I get bit. I know I lack patience, swung to early. But wow something hit it hard. So I go home look at it and think how can I rig a chatter bait blade that is big enough and strong enough to throw on a bigger soft bait. I took an old chatter bait apart and tried to make a rig. The bait on top. Took it out Sunday morning. It swims straight. But no chatter. Figured its to small or i did something wrong. Also figured the blade felt weak, and not sure I trust it. Im betting some of the guys that fish bigger predator fish have something already made. Who has some insight for me? Ed1 point -

(NJ) 13.5 lb Channel Catfish On A TK
flaswimbaiter reacted to AnthonyCatlow for a topic
Well I finally caught my first teener just not the species I was hoping for lol. I was fishing a Tiny Klash lip out mode B over some submerged grass in about 5ft of water when this channel cat SMASHED the bait. By the size of the splash I knew it wasn’t a bass but I was completely surprised when I pulled this beast up boat side. Not going to lie I was more concerned about my line snapping and loosing my Tiny Klash then landing this fish but it was an exciting fight and satisfying to get it in the boat. IMG_8784.mov1 point -
