east county bait and tackle i think its called. its in lakeside, gotta be the best place down there, full of flat bill tools but it has lots of good gear. What's wrong with wearing a flat bill? I wear a flat bill and I'd probably be one of the most honest, hardest working guys you've ever met. And yes, I have a lot of friends that shop there, great place.

OD rat or one of Cesar's. Don't own one of Cesar's but I've seen em in action and own his 9" wake/crank bait, never met a guy that is so meticulous about tuning a bait to do EXACTLY what he says it will do.

Never needed to know the constellations themselves, but I did have to know celestial navigation for my original license that I got because it was an offshore license, and my next license is a near coastal. Thank god, because C-Nav is possibly the worst thing I've ever had to do school wise.

A few guys here know me, and know I've had a hiatus from fishing and facebook and friends and a social life in general. Went out with Austen and found a stupid one to make me forget how much I hate studying for a captain's license. She went 7.42lbs. I call this the Viking Power Pose, I was trying to do the Japanese guy pose, but when you look like a viking...it just doesn't work too well.

I'm more concerned with WHERE I'm fishing. Open water in just kelp I'll throw just about any of em. However, fishing up tight in the boilers around surge, I'll grab a PEARL or Island Plastic, reason being they are a harder plastic with a bigger tail so they thump much harder. I feel like they can track it better than a bait that is a softer bait or smaller tail, almost like a rattling bait in stained water. Having said all that, 99% of the time I'd grab a PEARL or Island Plastic, I know the guys personally and love the baits.
