Had a real good day on the water today. However my biggest bass of the day was gill hooked and bled pretty bad putting a big DOWNER on the day. I knows its an unavoidable part of the game to some degree but I just hate thinking I might have killed that fish. 1. What do you think the survival rate is of one that is bleeding from a gill hook? 2. What do you do when you hook one in the gills? I saw two suggestions on tv not real sure if they would work, the first is to take a can of soda and poor it in the mouth over the gills, he said it would stop the bleeding I forget the reasoning. Another suggestion I saw was to put super glue on the affected area. I want to be prepared in the future when this happens. Oh and I wasn't using a stinger hook just a treble hook all the way up by the head.

Maybe we should setup a deal where the fish weight will be based off a percentage of the state record. Once the ice clears, I know my friends back east want to roll. The demand for QUALITY baits is obviously there. People copy the easy to copy parts (hinges, tails, etc.) Trying to make the quick buck. At first when I saw Mickey fireing off on these wana be's I thought it was extreme. Then I applied it to what I do. The LAME ASS punks trying to make the quick dollar are taking that dollar STAIGHT out of the pockets of those who work there ass off day in day out! SICK I get it now... the question is why aren't there others willing to RAISE THE BAR?
