  1. Congrats Tuan. Hope that thing gets all the paint chewed off it for you -Ali
  2. I don't know bro, the girl at the beginning is nuts I've watched Dahlberg nail fish on that thing for a decade now. If the production models swim as good as his personal stash, then they may be money Definitely worth a shot in my book! As long as they don't retail for $60 -Ali

    First DD and PB

Loved the video. Great fish too -Ali
  4. Happy Birthday Don! Hope the next year is filled with a working boat and many more trophy bass. -Ali
  5. One interesting note: the negotiator custom shakes a bit on the glide. It's weird but since the hooks are on top, the bait has a slight shake or shimmy when it changes direction due to the instability. The cool thing is that you can swim it over timber, grass, etc without the hooks catching. With regular glides, they seem to catch everything. -Ali
  6. I agree that the place sucks but the thought of catching a giant keeps making me go back There are spots there and they will crush a swimbait, any swimbait. Throw the mother and you'll have a wolfpack of 3 lbers whacking at it. But overall they never get hooked or the ones that do are 2 - 3lb fish. Every once in a while you'll get a surprise and get a green bass. The guys catching trout will every once in a while have a monster eat their fish. Last year there were a few teeners landed this way. This year the only bass over 10 lbs was caught this way. Sad to see though. That was a world class fishery at one point. -Ali
  7. Nicely put David! Someone is taking this once in a lifetime chance seriously! -Ali
  8. I saw Ali throw out a number so I had to hit the 13
  9. This is perfect info! Mainly because I see the same thing in nearby waters. Bass hate carp and chase them all along the lake (the bigger ones). The little ones get eaten. We used to mistake the juveniles for shiners but they were just small carp. I have seen the same pattern with trout: the big ones get pushed and chased away and the little ones get eaten. They are nest robbers too (trout and carp) so the bass get very sensitive to their presence in the spring time. Carp pattern baits imitate a lot of rough (trash) fish so they work well in places that have suckers, hitch, shiners, etc... Good luck with your new bait. -Ali
  10. Awesome post and instructions. That tungsten putty tip is money! -Ali
  11. I have fished it quite a bit. To me a 2 oz glide bait is tough to use on a Dobyns 806 and specially the 867. But that's just me. I like the LDC Production MH or in Dobyns speak, the 795ML.The main reason I like the lighter rods is because it is already tough to hold fish on these baits due to the goofy way fish hit them so a bit of a bend in the rod helps keep fish pinned. A faster ration reel at around 6:1 should be perfect. Specially if fishing out of a boat. These baits like speed. The bait is 100% wood. Well, except the stuff that should be metal (keepers, rings, hooks, etc...) Not my favorite bait in this size category but it does the job. -Ali
  12. The funny thing is that it doesn't matter whether you believe in Perry's WR or not. There is a modern day record fish (1 oz. heavier) that was caught in Japan and weighed on a modern scale and has plenty of pics/video to prove its existence. I think we should forget about this nonsense and bring the WR back to the states -Ali
  13. Super nice mods. When I tried it, I butchered my baits Now I leave it to the professional (Ken). Weedless 68 will be awesome. -Ali
  14. The one thing I like about these baits is that they are light and easy to fish. Glide isn't as wide as the Deps but it gets the job done. -Ali

Beautiful frame on that fish. Great job! -Ali
  16. OK, here is the video. I hope you Texas boys like the George W Bush laugh at the end. -Ali
  17. Thanks everyone but it ain't over yet (few hours left still for an entry). Also, I'm editing the video of the catch; bit of a story behind it! Hope to get it up soon God willing. Cheers! -Alu
  18. Hell yeah Chris. Nowhere to go since one else will have me -Ali
  19. There are no bass left in California. Anecdotal data from my last 30 trips out proves that. Sorry your spots got burned Jun. We tried to talk a guy who had a 13 lb bass that ate his trout into letting it go including offering him all the cash we had pooled together ($600), and he still refused. If you're hungry, $600 will get you a lot of food. Just saying. This is out of your lake BTW -Ali
  20. XH production blank can throw (in a pinch) anything from a baby wake to the 10" FS though not ideal for either bait. It's sweet-spot is in the 4 - 6.5 oz range. I personally like a rod with a softer tip and more parabolic action for hard baits and asked Ben to make my XH Custom with the production blank. My favorite rod for these baits by far. -Ali
  21. Took the words right out of my mouth. Super sweet reel! -Ali
