  1. Best time of my life. I was in a fraternity, worked three jobs, took 18-21 units a semester and still found time to party hard. I made some good friends and partied with some really fun chicks.

In the great words of Van Wilder- "Don't be fool wrap your too!l"

  2. Many people have had "less than great" experiences with some of Rago's more recent products. Jfish just seems to be voicing that. Seems like he's doing Zach more good than bad.

I fish some of rago's stuff but there are a long list of defective baits and some of it is because of quality control. Some is just poor design.

Examples of design flaws would be the raptor tails that break easy and the top trout tail sections that break even easier. The top trout gets bit well but might break before you even get a fish.

As for quality control the glideator tails breaking was a big one. He fixed it and I like the two glides I have. The finish wasn't the greatest as mine had a hair in it and seems to chip easy. But I bought them to catch fish not look pretty.

Overall I feel like for the price rago's baits could be better but he does put out baits that stick fish.

As for rats, I say make your own. It's pretty easy. I wouldn't pay the price I see for the rats out there

    Second that X2 ;););)

  3. lol. I can't count the number of times In have fished a hudd or a son or any other swimbait for that matter and not got a follower...doesn't mean it doesn't work. Could be just wrong place wrong time...or it could also just not be the right bait for your style of fishing; but that is a whole different topic.

For me it's simple - it either puts fish in the boat or it doesn't. Other big baits were getting bit, this one wasn't. Natural colors were getting bit, bright white wasn't.

    What other baits?

  4. Should have just fished it.

I did. Got nothing, not even a follower.

  5. I know what you mean... and I get my shot at a teener every year here. Ive caught a couple of kinda big fish in my days from these waters, but I learned to fish on Folsom, I have a little thing for it. And I personally had one follow me up two years ago that almost made me faint so I thought the biggies were in there. Maybe that was a once in a great while fish. Either way, ive stuck some blimps in there, so i love going there and pounding on some

I am not saying that they aren't there...I just personally would not invest my time and $ on that type of quest on that lake. There are other lakes near us that are on the incline with more potential. Folsom is a beast. If you got it dialed that is awesome...but man, that place can be a biotch for me 9 months out of the year.

  6. The situation: I recently got a sinking 10" FS Trout in white. It swims beautifully, in fact, it's smoother than the FS Shad or the FS Herrings I used to have. The problem is that its painted in white, which almost glows in the crystal clear water here and the paint job is a mess. I think it's an early one; it's signed and numbered '10'.

I sent a message to Mickey asking if he could repaint it but never heard back. So, I sent it off to Brock to get painted. I had assumed I would get it painted in a shad pattern since that is one of the primary types of large forage here and it fits the profile of the bait -- our shad get the size of dinner plates. Today I was thinking that maybe I should have it painted in a bluegill pattern. The bait has a big profile and the way it swims would work well for a gill. My only real concern is that a 10" gill might intimidate even a double digit fish. The gills in Lake Austin are bad mo-fos. Meanest/toughest fish I have ever seen.

So, thoughts? Which pattern would be best - shad or gill? Is it too big to be a gill?

    Thanks!

Should have just fished it. I use to get all hung up on this stuff and I don't think color matters as much as we think it does.

White baits get smoked in gin clear water, so do pink, chartreuse, red etc...I don't think it would have mattered if it is a blue gill or white.

I catch a ton of fish on an all white sons, paintless hudds in water with 15-30ft visibility...same with pink and chartreuse...if they are going to eat it then they are going to eat it whether it is zebra striped or blue gill pattern. Either way you are still going to have a nice paint job
