  1. I´m wondering if the 400 size has a larger gear box/main gear with more cranking power or is the only difference between the 300 and 400 the line capacity. So is the 400 just a wider version of the 300?
  2. Steel leader works. But I would never throw a Mother or Deps in pike waters! Use SB made out of ABS plastic.
  3. Hi Randall! I ordered my two 9" ss last year in March or April. TL!
  4. I have all three and love them too! LOL Best split ring pliers on the market. No doubt about that!!
  5. What handle and knobs do you use on the Ryoga Adam?
  6. For me as an pike angler: 9" HPH JC Magnum Triple Trout (bigger versions) I missed so many other good swimbaits from 3:16, Fatback Herring, Pizz Customs, Nates, a.s.o.
  7. Don´t be too focused on the gear ration. The important thing is the actual line pick up!
  8. Thanks for your thoughts and advises. I think I will go with the Shrapnel. Its just a feeling but I think this reel will get the job done.
  9. @TopRamen Man thats a cool rig. I´ll give it a try this season!
  10. I added some lead strips at the nose of the JC 178. Works pretty well. The action is still good.
  11. @Waynem Yes I fishing for pike. Swimbaits seems to be awesome for every predatory fish.
  12. Sorry forgot to mention I fish for Pike. (But actually this stick is made for bass fishing) TranX would be my choice also but I am a lefty guy :/
  13. @evilcatfish Swedish ABUs are robust no question about that but I dont like the centrifugal brakes Abu´s using. @Sciaramitaro 14" TT, 13" Hiro, 16" LT Trout, Fatback Herring Gidzilla, 14 Inch Crankbaits a.s.o.
  14. Unfortunately I am a lefty... otherwise it would be an option thats right!
  15. Ok guys I realy need your help. Today, after painful 10 month of waiting, my new Deps rod "The Strong Mind" arrived from Nippon. It is made for giant baits. The casting weight is 2 kg (71.5 Oz) A 14" TT feels like nothing on this rod!! (no rod bend due to the weight of the lure. Still straight) So what is the right reel for this broomstick?? The old CC is a proven reel you can trust. The new CC is smoother and has the more advanced casting break system. On the other hand it seems so small. Too small? The Shrapnel is by any means a good robust reel but it was specially tuned for casting light frog baits for snakeheads. Daiwa said it is also possible to cast 150g (5 Oz) with it for shore fishing. Makes me not feeling comfortable. Also the centrifugal break system (only 2 pins) seems not the best choice. Shimano Trinidad 16N: I know some Musky guys using this reel for Bulldawg pounders and heavy bucktails. Also you California guys using it for chucking Surface Irons for Yellowfins and Calicos. Good reel for throwing swimbaits? Man I look over to this rod, leaning on my wall and the thought chucking 2 pounds of swimbait on it makes literally my hands sweet!! Thank you SU!!
  16. @chang127 U have to cover one hook shenk with a little piece of plastic tube Will hold the hooks in place without any issues. This is the way how it is supposed to be, AND use the top hooks only when the fish will attack the swimbait from above.
  17. Its perfect for dragging along the bottom (e.g. wintertime) or fishing over weed beds etc. Otherwise I would highly recommend the usual belly hooks.
  18. Can you use the new CC400 for lures between 9 - 15 Oz?? I ordered the new DEPS Giant Bait rod and now I´m looking for the right reel.
  19. ish - I hate you too Joe These are 3:16s? Never saw them before. Floating or sinking?
  20. Hey guys whats about the ST-X58? It´s supposed to be 20% stronger then any other hooks Owner made (in it´s class). Any experience?
  21. You should use the Palomar or SDJ for mono and the SGJ for braid!! Palomar is really not a good knot for braid!!
