That thing is just ridiculous! Nicely done!
  2. I was able to get out for about an hour and a half between Thursday and Friday mornings and messed around with some different weight baits on the rod. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to fight any fish on it. The baits I threw included: CL8 Water Vole (1oz) Mattlures Baby Hardgill (1oz) Savage Gear 3D Shine Glide 5.25" (1oz) 6" Triple Trout (1.5oz) River2Sea Swaver 168 (1.6oz) DS Attack Rat Jr (1.7oz) Savage Gear 3D Shine Glide 7.25" (2.3oz) Duo Realis Onimasu (2.75oz) Wake Jr (3.1oz) 8" Hudd ROF 12 (4.8oz) Casting distance and load up was impressive with the lower weight baits. I felt like the rod was really putting them out there for their light weight. No surprise, the Shine Glides lost distance when they helicoptered, but that's unavoidable. IMO the sweet spot is likely somewhere around 2.5-3oz. The 8" Hudd was castable, but the rod definitely felt like it was being overloaded. I personally won't be attempting to cast the 250 on this rod. I paired the rod with a Quantum Exo 300 PT and it felt pretty balanced to me. YMMV; I am definitely not a rod connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination. All in all, I'm happy with the setup and ended up ordering the XH as well. I'll keep fishing the H this weekend and try to get a fish on it, but I'm in a major slump with swimbaits!
  3. Sent you a pm with the link from my email. Still shows $79 through the link. Might be a direct email sale only?
  4. I recently picked up a 4 piece travel swimbait rod after seeing some people in a Facebook group recommend it and share a link to a sale. The rod comes in two weights; Heavy and Extra Heavy. Both rods are 7'11". The heavy is rated for 1-5oz, while the extra heavy is rated for 2-8oz. I opted for the heavy because I like to throw a lot of gill baits and they tend to be some of the lighter baits out there. I did read a review from one guy who throws the 250 on the heavy, so it can be done, but may not be well-advised. The rod is backed by the Okuma limited lifetime warranty. Initial Impressions: The included rod tube should be sturdy enough to protect it from all but the most extreme events that happen when travelling. The tube is 27 5/8" long by 2 3/4" across and includes a handle that would allow you to lash it to the bottom of a pack if desired. The also fits nicely in a suitcase if you want to pack it that way. Inside of the rod tube, you'll find a nicely finished felt pouch that is divided into 4 slots, one for each piece. The pouch is a nice touch that will prevent damage from pieces being jostled against each other while in transit. The blank is an IM8 graphite blank and is finished with orange and black. In my opinion, it looks pretty sharp. The guides seem to be of decent quality and size. One thing that was strange to me is that the rod is made to have a small gap between the pieces when put together. Look at the photos below and you'll see what I mean. This is normal and is how the rod is designed. I haven't had a chance to throw anything on the rod as my fishing time has been virtually non-existent lately. I will update my review with additional thoughts once I have put the rod through its paces. I have a few standard swimbait rods, but this rod will fill a niche that none of them can due to its ease of transport. I look forward to using it on vacations in the years to come. If you're interested in a more thorough review, check out this article: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/citrix-travel-rod.html If you're looking to pick up the XH version, TackleDirect has it on sale for $79.99+ shipping through May 31st. Otherwise it seems to run around $110 shipped on eBay. Not going to lie, I'm tempted to grab the XH myself!
  5. Nice to see some reasonable prices again!
  6. This is the description on the mattlures website.
  7. Buy your own 80# fluoro and crimp sleeves and make your own if you want to retain as much action as possible. I made the mistake of using premade musky leaders for the last 5 years and after crimping my own, I'll never go back. The musky leaders all use such huge swivels and snaps that they really affect the sink rate and action of your baits.
  8. 50-60# fluorocarbon leader, these double barrel mini crimps Mini Copper Double Barrel Crimp Sleeves .8mm x 7mm - 100 pieces (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FPIW11I/), and a pair of vise grips and you're good to go. Watch Eric Aske's video on YouTube (The Swimshot Revisited)
  9. Took the time to post this, but couldn't bother to post the info here? SMH.
  10. Got tracking this morning

Great guy to deal with, bait was pristine! Thanks again!
  13. Nope, I used to use the heavy musky leaders and those really killed action. 50-60# fluoro is a good compromise. If you want the best action, go without a leader, but we both know eventually you'll get bit off!
  14. 60# Fluorocarbon + Double Barrel Crimps Here's a good rigging video: https://youtu.be/AL-0iuZGeSk

  16. Isaac- There is a wake, a shallow diver, & a deep diver. Edit- If you're asking if any sink, I believe all float at rest. PM sent on perch.

Picked up some more baits from Jason, everything was in fantastic shape!
  18. My two latest pick-ups. Finally got a freestyle at a reasonable price from a friend. I'm pumped to throw the freestyle and see what the hype is all about! (The possum will be fun too)
  19. Looks sharp, he just needs a perch colored one! It looks like the fins are plastic, do they seem to be pretty durable?
