  1. Thanks guys, but let's not turn this into an infomercial for me

Instead of PM'ing, i'll just throw some info out here. This is my way of doing/explaining and may not be everyone's view or practice. To each their own. This is what i've found works best for me and people's reels i work on through experience and trial and error.

Supertuning to me, first means ridding the reel of the factory greases and oils, and replacing them with higher end lubricants. Next is high speed sanding and smoothing, followed by high luster polishing of every friction point on the reel. This could mean more work on certain reels, etc. Few points of interest are the inside of the pinion gear, the spool shaft, spool ends, metal friction washers etc. After sanding and polishing, comes the upgrades. Spool bearings, drags, swaping bushings for bearings where applicable and prudent, ceramic pawls etc. After the finished product, strategically placed high end lubricants will allow the reel to both cast exceptionally better than stock, as well as have a much more refined feel to the retrieve. With swimbaits, it will allow you to reach the same distance with less effort, and get that extra bit of cast to reach places you couldn't before.

Supertuning will be most evident with mid range reels. Lower end reels will benefit, as well as high end reels, but the changes aren't as noticeable as the mid range stuff like Curados, Calcuttas, Lexas, etc. However, the Conquests supertuned are very tough to beat!

Hopefully that clears up some questions. Shoot me a PM if you need/want more info.

Geoff's service, super tuning and upgrades has been on my five

    JDM 400's, two Conquest 400's , three 400 TE's.

Try casting 7+ oz baits----ALL DAY. Not just couple hours, but 10 hrs.

Not just 30 yards across a pond--but full 80+ yrd casts. And out in hot

day light--ALL DAY, not just cool nights at 1AM...for couple hours.

Trust----You will feel the difference vs stock ;)

Preserved energy, less fatigue, more at-one with your swimbaits 8-)

  2. It is my understanding, that the BB Trout the come stock from Deps are built to Butch's tuned specifications. I could be wrong, but I think that is true. I do know that Butch does modify the weights on his 250s to get them to do what he wants. His Saiko tuned baits also have upgraded eyes, different hooks, and a light epoxy code on the sticker under the soft plastic shell; at least that is what he did to the Saiko tuned bait that I purchased directly from him.

Butch is a class act all the way IMHO.

    +1--8 :)

    You are correct.

Also, Butch has at least four other different "specifications" for his deps 250's.

There's ALOT more than meets the eyes, gents ;)

Look for eye-opening insights on his new SAIKO website. Coming soon 8-)

  3. I think it's going to depend on the particular bait. All of them I have fished don't fish the same. Some are better right on the surface others are better down in the water etc. I would start with asking the person who made the bait.

And I believe there are ALOT more Huds... on market, than Glides ;)

  4. How many of you have stuck a dd on one of these glide baits? Seems like most green bass I see caught are shy of 10lbs. As for stripers, I'm getting cookie cutters 17-22 with no big ones yet

Guys like butch brown don't count. In only talking about normal humans.

    Nufo,

It is my experience that most guys gett'n DD's on BB deps---aren't tell'n ;)

  5. Fished just thrice. Excellent condition.

Hate to let these two awesome LDC custom rods go:

Custom XH, spiral wrapped to the right. Awesome Hud rod. Very versatile.

Custom Mod. XH, spiraled wrapped to right. Awesome swimmer rod or treble hooked baits.

I accepted a sponsorship, so I don't want these rods to just sit. Let someone lucky enjoy them :)

Want what I paid for them. Not desperate to sell. Please PM only.

    Happiest Holidays,

  6. Had eight (8) Shimano 400's and Conquests super-tuned and

fully upgraded by Geoff of Animal House Reel Service.

Made such a BIG difference! 8-) And I received awesome service...! :D

Prior to going to Geoff, I had a few of my Daiwa Itos done by

    another reel company---- :cry::evil:

Now we'll move the upgrading down to the 300's, 250's and 100 reels.

    Thank you Geoff!
