    Tired of 8's

Haha ya it can be frustrating. It's not that I'm not breaking the 8 lb barrier it's just that I've caught 4 this month and none bigger this month. Lol

    Tired of 8's

Was only good for one again today. Last few trips have been 1 fish trips except for one o the days I caught 4 on the Hudd and the biggest was 3-14! joking about being tired of 8's they're fun. Got this one on the 11" soft tool. It was 8-5
  3. I talked to Kevin and he said he's really taking a break. No repaints no bait making nothing. I know he appreciates all of the support everyone has given him through the past. Hopefully for you guys he'll be able able to do it again.
  4. I know he's been talkin to me about not making baits anymore. I know it's a lot of work and he's not making a lot of money on them for how much time he puts into them. He started making baits not with the intent to sale them but for personal use and he mentioned maybe just going back to that. He will still be making baits for himself during this break period but no more then what he himself needs. I think he will get back to making them and selling them again. Keep a lookout on his website or follow him on Facebook. His name is Kevin lee. Facebook is the best way to find out what's going on with his baits. I tried helping him out with the baits for one day and the 2 I made didn't swim good at all so I figured I'd just stick to fishing them instead of trying to make them.
  5. Ya guys it's just a break but it could be a long break. I'll make an announcement on here when he starts making them again if he wants me to.
  6. I'm Kevin's good friend. He fishes with me a lot. They're great baits but unfortunately he just quit making baits.

    Hudd 8-8

Thanks guys. Blanked today. A few bites just didn't hook up. The big ones I had found were gone. I tried looking for that pod for a while. No where to be found. I hate storms. I may be the only swimbaiter that feels that way. Haha give me sunny skies and a little breeze. Tomorrow's another day. Looks like rain again.

    Last couple of weeks

Thanks guys. Thanks man. Actually the bottom left was the biggest. Top to bottom left to right. 7-14, 6-0,8-0 and 3 something I think 3-6, little is all I know.
  12. Last couple of Saturday trips. 8" hudds have been the ticket rof 12 & 0
  13. I think this is true. Not to mention, if you are trying to fool an old fat grandma fish into biting your fake trout, it may be easier if there are not hundreds of real trout around to compare it too. Nothing really looks as good as the real thing. I'd have to say I somewhat disagree. jace the lakes we had our best days at fishing for largemouth were loaded with trout. Now I think if you're fishing around an area where they had just stocked it might make it tougher but if you're on a big enough lake where all of the trout that make it kind of disperse then that's when I think it gets good. The lakes we fish have holdovers and Kokanee so yes they will eat it no matter if there's trout plants or not. I think if you can find a lake they have been stocking but haven't for a couple weeks and you can find some big ones near where they stock those fish are usually willing to bite. They're there and they know whats coming. They're still eating trout they just aren't seeing tons of them like they do when they have just stocked.
  14. If you're having big ones follow shallow then keep fishing shallow. No need to try and find fish If you've already found the big ones. Maybe try different angles. They just gotta be ready to eat. They will eventually eat. Another thing is back off from where you think they are. Make longer casts to give them time to eat. Most of the time if they're ready to eat they'll eat it right where they should but I have caught some that had been following it. I forgot to add one other thing. When you have a group follow once it becomes about 10 times harder to get them to bite after that. I wouldn't stop hitting those fish throughout the day. I did catch one the other day that was with a groups of 3 others that were following about 6 consecutive times on that spot so they can be caught but make sure you make that first cast a good one and definitely make sure you're backed out far enough. Once they see that boat and that bait and they put it together it makes it tough especially with the real big ones.

  16. Ummmm..... Am I awake? Hahaha yes Don, yes it does.
  17. Youre lucky, I have a family and work to tend to. Stuck to one morning/evening a weak is the deal I made with the wifey. Haha oh I'm married too and have a job. What I'm saying is if I have time to go to Bassathon I have time to go fishing. No kids yet so ya I might have a little more time then most people but I'm definitely not able to go 3-4 times a week like a lot of people I know. Haha. I go on Saturdays I take off work early here and there to get a short little trip in. I told my wife before we got married that I hunt and I fish if she can't deal with it then we shouldn't get married. Haha we'll see what happens if the kids come
  18. Bassathon??!! You guys are crazy. Any free time I've got from October-May is spent on the water

    Hudd mods

If they are thumping it they might not even be opening their mouths when they bite it. I noticed just this year getting a lot of taps. I believe they're so accustomed to hudds here in california that they're checking to see if it's real. I've had them do it with hard baits. They come and hit it mouth closed. My advice would be to keep reeling. If their mouth is closed they might come back and eat it. If they did have their mouth open you'll feel the weight. Set it when the rod loads up. If they smoke it set as soon as you feel it. If you set the hook when they tap it they wouldn't come back and eat it. If you kept reeling they would. This is what has worked with me through trial and error. I didn't notice this happening until December of last year. It's been happening here and there ever since. Hope this helps.

Are they thumping it when you're getting short struck or is it a light tap?
  21. Wow... It's gone so far to where people are worried about what glue you put on the gills? I didn't know you needed gills to get bit. I think people are worrying about the wrong stuff to help them catch fish. Take it out of the package bend the hook up a little and go to work. That's my advice on your glue
