  1. I bet Too much time on SPJ, that sh*t rubbing off.
  2. Crazy nice smalljaw. I am pretty sure that is seven dude. You got the record as far as I am concerned. SS
  3. It depends. I prefer to fish big baits, but in the end I prefer to catch big bass more than I prefer to fish swimbaits. If the bite is good, I fish them. If not, I see no reason to keep grinding when I could get a big bite on a spinning rod. I will, at times, even fish with bait. I have not seen proof that a fly rod is a better tool for big bass, bit if it was, I would use that. I still have never learned to troll, but I want to. At the end of the day, I want to go home knowing I did what I could to get a big bite, not that I stuck it out with a big bait. But I still won't bed fish. SS
  4. I weighed in on that over there. The thread got nuked (I have a positive talent for opening my yap and getting a thread nuked. ) but I agree with the OP here. It is like paying for sex, imo. Yeah, it might be fun, but in the end it is meaningless, and there is always more than one price to pay. Whatever. SS
  5. Dude, if he does one, he HAS to call it Mickey Mouse.
  6. I beg to differ. Once I busted a rod and I knew EXACTLY how big that fish was. SS
  7. Hey Rod- No dis intended. I was trying to say that if someone wanted to build a bait, they should just build one, not poach your harness. I chopped up several Stockers, in order to rig them with a line through, and a sinker, some wire, and a hook was what I got out of them. Like I said, not trying to poach. Chopping up and ruining expensive baits is a major hobby of mine. Every once in a while I manage to come up with a good mod. I actually do like the line through mod on the Stocker. Shaun
  8. Is the harness in that bait any better than the "harness" in the regular Stocker Trout? That one is an egg sinker, some bailing wire, and a tinned saltwater jig hook. Now, I love that bait, don't get me wrong. The one time I was able to fish Casitas I got my best fish on it, and it pulled fish when other baits would not. So it is a PROVEN PRODUCER. However, it is also primitive, from an aesthetic perspective, and in terms of it's rigging. I doubt that it is much of a secret at this point that a bait needs to have a low center of gravity. So, without taking anything away from the Stocker line of baits, I am pretty skeptical that the harness could be anything too crazy. I could be wrong. SS
  9. Thanks for taking the time to talk today. I get where you are coming from a lot better now. It sucks that there is so much treachery in the bait making world, and some of the stuff that you told me about is pretty hard to swallow. I should prolly add a nohomo right there. I guess the big lesson is not to assume I know what goes on between people. Cheers man. Shaun
