The trifecta

Nice 36"ish northern pike decided to go air jaws on the tiny klash today. Got a little hairy on the kayak so I took it to the bank.

Got a much appreciated little break from the miserable heat and humidity, with a couple solid days of beautiful weather. Took the yak out to the reservoir to enjoy it. Noticed there was a nice flow of cold water coming from the upper reservoir, so I decided to paddle up the connecting "river" (pretty much a creek although it's technically a river) as far as I could go. Lower reservoir water temps were in the mid to upper 80's, while this water was in the mid upper 70's. Some nice cool shallow stained water for these bass to escape to. Threw the tiny klash, set to the "glide" mode. Targeted all the wood I could find, and pulled a bunch of 3lbers out. Found a nice hole with good current above a set of "rapids", had to get out and pull the kayak over them. Before I got back in the boat, I decided to make a few casts in the pool from the bank. Saw some timber in the middle of the pool, so I casted to it. Gave the klash a couple twitches, when it passed over the submerged lay down, two fish came out to nail it. The smaller one whiffed the bait, and this meatball crushed it. Not a monster with a weight of 5lb 3oz, but a solid fish for this area. Had a lot of action on the tiny klash, really liking this bait and it's versatility. Hopefully this pattern holds up for the next outing.

great hudd rod. It is a pretty beefy rod, slings the hell out of those baits. I have the old xh production model.
