  1. Well lets sort this out, what is your definition of a slow sink? Because if its like a ROF 2-3 sorry but that just is not realistic. I think most people would rank them…. <5 super slow, 5-10 slow sink, >10 moderate/fast sink. Now the dudes that are fishing super skinny water, or grassy water can get this pretty skewed. Just like the dudes that regularly fish 35+ft. So where do you fall? What do you want in a slow sink? I know rago lures are far from consistant but I have seen a handful of glidiators and I would have no problem calling them slow sinks.
  2. When you first told me about this I was curious how much you actually opened them up, well it is a lot more than I was thinking! Haha I might have to take my st-56s off and give this a try
  3. Thats a beautiful fish, great catches all around guys. I failed four times at a big one to enter for this tourney
  4. Here is the other thread, that sucks man sorry to hear that viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15629&hilit=bubble
  5. Despite the fact that many people swear by this scent or that scent, from a biological standpoint the great majority of scents cannot physically be detected by black bass species. I am not saying ALL but most, but if it gives you confidence then go for it.
  6. There was a thread a while back a guy had the same problem you could read, but I am pretty sure the general consensus was no body was sure what may or may not work. I have a question for you though, it seems like most of the guys that this has been happening to have been storing it with soft baits, is that what happened to yours as well?
  7. East NC is tough man thats for sure
  8. Virginia is hot right now, making me want drive north to fish?!?! Now that is just crazy Good one!
  9. Damn I think some people need to get out of the house You yankees are welcome in my boat if you drive down here, almost 80 degrees out today, pre-spawn, been fishing all day every day. Everyone asks dumb questions at some point in their life, everyone gets hazed too, its all good either way, just get out there and soak a bait all day and learn how to get bit!
  10. I forgot to mention, she isn't bleeding because she is a spawner its still way to cold for that here, she was bleeding from the mouth she got hooked in the tongue
  11. Seeing as how it was such a nice day today, when the old lady left for work at 2:30 I decided I was going to load up the boat and hit the lake for a while. When I finally get out to the lake and realize I left the batteries at home. So I turned around and headed back, I decided I was not going to waste my time going home and back to the lake, I just dropped the boat off at storage and decided to hit a little pond in between my house and the storage yard. Now I have never caught any decent fish in this pond, but its good for some dink 2-3lbers every now and again. The day is still not going to well at this point my first couple casts backlash, casting into the wind from my favorite point with line that hasn't been stretched yet. After a few bad casts I finally get a decent one out there and start working the bait. A few cranks in a get a big bump and then slack. I crank down and set the hook, and it barely moves, so I assume its just a log, because I drag in big logs from here all the time. Well then the log starts fighting back, and I see the flash. Well here is the log haha Gear: Dobyns 806 Calcutta 400b P-line PF 30# Swimbait
  12. Hell I figure you have about the best shot, although they are not common in the lake as I'm sure you know a 10lb smallie came from your home lake, and dale hollow is not too far away, unless someone is fishing erie you have the best smallie water
  13. Dude! It just keeps getting better! I cant wait to see next weeks video Don!
  14. The 956 would be my choice out of those three for sure.
  15. Mike hooked me up when I needed a bait, and even with all that he is going through he got it to me fast! He is a great guy and I would not hesitate to make a deal with him again.
  16. I broke mine today and really need a replacement, I am working on getting mine fixed but really need one before then, plus a back up never hurt, if you have one you are willing to part with please let me know, thank you.
  17. That thing is a squid, good job Don.
  18. I havent but just to show people just how big it is I will throw up this picture Oliver put on facebook of it.
  19. I still cant believe the boat didnt sink when that chunky guy in the shorts got in. Like Dave said that was one of the best days fishing I have had, Don has a wealth of knowledge and gave us a ton of advice.
  20. Travis did a good summary, so I have just a few things to add, I have both the 1x and 2x but have not really thrown the 2x very much and also don't have fish on them either so take what you want from this. First I put heavier hooks on and fish 20lb line than is the same diameter as 25 PF and I am getting around 7ft in depth. As Travis said you can still wake them if you reel slowly but the wake is different. Because it is front heavy the head dives just a little waking and pushes a lot of water. When you crank it down the action tightens up a lot, you can keep the action wider if you do a quick stop and go retrieve but once again as Travis said it won't hang down there very long. I have noticed a lot of people have been kind of disappointed with them and I have to admit I was at first as well, but the more I throw it the more it grows on me we will see what the fish think as it warms up a bit
