I might have what you need, look at my thread in grass roots.

Drop your rod tip, keep the tip in the water to keep them from head shaking out of the water. Cool you got one to eat that big ass bait.

Drilled and removed the broken screw eye. Back filled with straight resin and then installed new longer heavier duty hardware. Good as new, he also got a new tail. Shipped back and in the mail in a day.

It all depends on what your time is worth. Wood is definitely cheaper but more time consuming and less durable. Resin has a more expensive start up cost but once you get it dialed it’s cheaper and faster. Swim is about the same.

Doh!! Oh well easy fix.

my buddy Christian got 2 this week back to back #18 and #15

Longer the bait longer the glide you aren’t going to get a 3ft glide to one side on a 6” bait.

Thank you, if you or anyone saw the recent cast and crank podcast YouTube with Stephan and I there’s a glimpse of what I’ve been working on. Still need to finalize a few things but here’s a sneak peak.

For whatever reason the chartreuse/yellow bait has done the most damage.

The dark purple is a wood glide I made to get the idea of how they work. IMG_3897.MOV

Since the cat is out of the bag I’ve been making baits, I guess I’ll share my adventure . I’ll start off with my early baits. I don’t have alot of time to mess with them so it’s been a long process. Always have been wood, and recently made the leap into resin. Let me know what you think.
-
I don't know everything about resin so I'm not an expert by any means, just a garage builder in my spare time. I've only been messing with it for about 4 years ,everything else prior to that has been wood.

I can place the hook in a vise with it attached to the bait and pull on the bait and straighten a hook out. The swivel doesn’t budge and still spins free. They will be a little tight at first on a new bait but the more you use the bait the more free they will spin.
-
Here is a upclose pic to give you more of an idea.
-
The top of the swivel doesn’t matter if it spins or not. The bottom half that is connected to your hook is what spins. The resin will harden and break free once you spin it. Don’t over think it. Just put them in the mold it will all make sense once you do it. This yellow bait has countless fish and 2 striper over 20lbs.

Trust me they hold…
-
I put them in the mold and pour. Never had one pull out. I cast everything in the mold saves time and little room for error.
