1. It reminds me a lot of playing basketball in school, there was always a lot ish talking. If you couldn't hang with the ish talking, you were usually getting knocked off your game no matter how good you could ball. You either grew thick skin and learned to deal with it or you took your ball and went home.

Agree you have to have a thick skin and can't be to sensitive since we want to have fun also :!:

  2. I think it's as simple as respecting each others opinion IMHO. You can disagreed respectfully without putting someone down or coming across so strong your opinion is the only right one. It's like rods, reels and line everyone has their favorite, and while the majority may agree to certain a brand, doesn't make the others wrong either.

Lastly I think and I know I have done it and still miss stuff, but proofread what you're going to post. It doesn't take much to come across wrong accidentally. I know since I joined the forum it seems to have gained in the drama department which is a shame since hopefully we're all here to share and get better at what we love doing IMHO :!::D

  3. I've had luck with Wakebaits (also used as a driver), Punkers, Gills, Hudds, Glides, so fish what you have confidence in and what works depending on what you can (some areas I can't throw certain baits due to the treble hooks). The one bait I always end up back at if the bite is tough on a day is the 68 Weedless Hudd in ROF 5. Also fish the floating bigger patches of vegetation, I've caught nice fish on those and went working the Weedless through a clump of vegetation when it breaks free :!::D

  4. Well I went out to the main lake which has come up 25.53' since beginning of December with all the badly needed rain we got (still need more, but it's a good start). The ramp was still closed along with debris floating everywhere in the water and looking like chocolate milk on top of it, so I decided to give a smaller lake a try and landed 3 fish all around the same size of which the biggest was 4.88 lbs on a 68 Weedless Hudd. Did'nt use code since I knew it wasn't big enough, but took a pic to post to show I had fun trying on a nice day :!:

  5. Got flooding in my town of Healdsburg, CA with news stations showing kayakers going through the main streets and water up to windows on cars. Both graphs are of river and lake are the last 2 days (but look at the 24 hour window).

Even more important is the water they are holding back at the lake which has really gotten a boost from the rain, but has a long ways to go. Just image the added flow to the river if that water wasn't held back :!:post-3156-1425300991486_thumb.png

  6. I forgot to add, I do watch the reel closely so I'm reeling slightly faster when I start a retrieve and slow down when it gets fuller again to account for line out/retrieval speed (be it a count per turn of reel handle or watching your spool fill or combo). The main draw back if you ever lose line you may end up on the low side fast which happened once to me since they only hold about 90-95 yards of PLine PF 25 lb test. Otherwise I’m putting on new line regularly so I don’t lose any baits from old line anyways. They have a Lews BB2 which has the bigger capacity just haven’t heard if it has as heavy gearing as the Super Duty. Have a friend I know trying it out, so when he uses it for awhile and takes it apart be nice to know how it holds up. I'm no expert, but I do like the reels IMHO on swimbaits, but again I would get a bigger reel for anything bigger/heavier than a 8†Hudd.

  7. I've been using the Lews Super Duty reels little over a year now on swimbaits up to the 8" Hudds and Gancraft 230 with no problems (lots of Hudds since I love that bait). I use the Pline PF 25 lb also, but for anything larger I do plan on getting a larger reel for like the 30 lb lines. These are reels I had before swimbaits and saved for the Dobyns rods 1st and the reels kept performing IMHO :!::D

  8. Here's the SU poll to add to this:

What is your definition of a swimbait?

Any bait that imitates the natural swimming motion of a forage species 50% [228]

Any bait 4" or larger that imitates the natural swimming motion of a forage species 14% [66]

Any bait 6" or larger that imitates the natural swimming motion of a forage species 27% [123]

Any bait 8" or larger that imitates the natural swimming motion of a forage species 4% [19]

Any bait 10" or larger that imitates the natural swimming motion of a forage species 1% [3]

    Any bait 6" or larger 3% [15]

    Any Bait 8" or larger 1% [5]

I think as with reels, rods, line, etc. it's open to a persons interpretation :!:

  9. Funny people are saying "in" when they haven't even dropped the rules yet.

I heard you have to have at least 200 posts to participate....

I thought you had to be a member for over a year and 400 posts?

I don't remember a giveaway you had to state "In" in the time I've been part of SU. I do hope it's something even those that have ice already can be apart of :!:

  10. Two total different baits, the savage gear is a line through bait that is fished a bit faster and the hudd you can slow roll and grind the bottom like a jig. Think of it like retrieving a spinnerbait vs a jig, Not that the hudd cant be fished faster or the same speed as a savage gear IMHO the Savage gear excels at a slow to medium speed where the hudd excels at crawling/slow rolling

    +1 nailed it :!:

  11. Only had a couple hours to go out and fish, so rushed out and when I caught a 4.63 lb LM on a 8" Savage Line Thru Trout I realized I had forgot the code  So I think man this would stink if I hooked anything big, but ended up with my biggest being only 4.94 lbs caught on a 68 Weedless Hudd which wouldn't be enough to win anyways. I'll post just this one picture to show I tried, but with no code 8-)

Nice fish, that hudd is broken in ;)

Yeah that Hudds got around 40+ LM on it :D
