  1. Thats what I am thinking. JDM tranx. Hoping it will be a bit higher quality like other JDM options though.
  2. For those interested in the Grappler 300HG- I emailed Japan Tackle, Jun has decided to stock them once they become available. They should become available in June of this year.
  3. http://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/topic/39139-shimano-tranx-question/ Here is some additional information, mainly on the handle options though.
  4. It amazes me how someone will come rushing to an online forum to give one side of the story, without giving the other party the opportunity to explain or clear his position. Possibly the worst action that could be made. With his past history, it would be a quick way to have no 316 lures at all.
  5. If you are looking for a replacement handle, Check out Reel Kustom Reels on FB. Very nice carbon handles he makes himself, without the JDM price. Around the $85. 4 oversized bearings and EVA knobs. Very happy with the handle I bought from him about a year ago.
  6. This is spot on. The big thing I always try and decide upon is shad or gill bait. I have also found ponds where I cannot get bit on big baits for the life of me. Often times were there is no grass and in the summer time. At that point, I will swap over to crayfish imitators. Just pay attention to the birds. Some pond fish can be finicky. But once you figure them out, you can hammer them. For shad, HPH. For gills, its the 316 FS SS gill, or 6" RS bottom hook.
  7. IMO, expensive and a pain getting a real over seas and back. Pizz is a great option, when I spoke with him in the past, I believe it was up to the reel owner to have it taken apart and resembled. I am not sure who Paul would recommend now (animal house reel service is closed). "Reel Kustom Reels" is another person to check with (On Facebook). He powder coated my conquest and did an excellent job.
  8. A trick that helps is after having a reel sit for awhile- stretch the line out before taking it out on the water. Tie the line to a fixed object, let out about 50 yards of line, and pull on it for 5 seconds or so. Works great on Seguar Abrazx 20 lb.
  9. Anyone have luck finding the parts needed for this upgrade? I only could find the slower speed options.
  10. Not baits, but a reel- It took about 2.5 weeks for a reel to arrive from DigiTaka.
  11. Are those sport shads painted by Mickey?
  12. I spoke with a guy at Batson about what I am looking for, and he suggested I check out the "bounce back" options NFC offer for steelhead and salmon. Because the swim bait line from NFC stops at 807, he suggested the "BB 806-1". It will be a bit more parabolic and better suited for the 4-5 oz treble hook baits. Anyone else gone this route?
  13. Very odd... did you ask for a paint touch up? Or did he do that voluntarily?
  14. What do you mean by "actively trying"? Bad mouthing? Or are we talking actual sabotage?

  16. Anyone fishing the 807 or 808 blank? Or even an Edge rod? The 1/2- 8 oz rating makes me hesitant on what the actual sweet spot is on the 808. Sounds like they are more parabolic in design. Thinking it could be a good treble hook rod for glide baits.
  17. I never had issues with my negs rolling (bottom hook and custom). I did have the rear hook pull off on a harness on a custom though. You fishing bottom hook or custom? Stock hooks/ split rings?
  18. Randal may be able to chime in on this, as I am sure many people have asked him why he does not make a larger shad bait. Lots or 15"+ shad around where I fish.
  19. I got a laugh out of the "only" part. Over time I have narrowed down what I bring. I am down to 4 or 5 baits. A hard, soft, glide, top water. I believe having 4/5 baits you are familiar with is a lot more effective than dabbling in 15 or so. At the same time, I have seen the fish only want one particular bait.
  20. Anyone have first hand experience with the bait? Looks like they are starting to become available here in the USA.

  22. I have a ROF5 8" from a older batch that has a strange air pocket in the upper back region. Makes the bait swim slightly nose down and actually sinks about ROF3. Possibly my favorite hud for fishing in 6FOW or less. I have seen photos of similar air pockets in other huds, but end up becoming deformed in high heat. Unless this happens to mine, I plan to keep it and continue fishing it.
