  1. I have had good luck with Matt's bluegills. Get a bottle of mend it if you don't already have it. I usually fish his soft gills slow and many time's like a jig with dead sticking and it get's bit. Great bait for skipping under cover as well.
  2. Magic Man my post was not directed at you. I'm just saying in general I think some people get really worked up about something so small in the big picture. Just putting my opinion out there, not that it really matters lol. You choose to make baits and I choose to fish baits that aren't put up on a pedestal and flipped for crazy money. Sounds like we are both avoiding the nonsense in our own ways.
  3. If you own a bait sell it how you want. If you don't like PM offers then move on and don't deal with those sellers, it's really that simple. Now if you put up a bait as PM offers and you get lowballers or people offering retail then you have no right to piss and moan because that's part of the game for not putting a $ on it. I understand some get frustrated that bait horders sell unicorns way above retail but I personally could care less and chose to fish other baits. Lifes to short to let the little things get you that worked up.. or maybe I'm too easy going.
  4. 120tyd or trade for a new style deps 175 in Mullet or preferable BB carp + cash.
  5. For Sale Only- Gan Craft 230 wrapped in a perch pattern by Grady. Really hate to sell, but baby on the way and need $.. PM offers please. Looks and functions like new.
  6. Gantarel Ghost Gill - New Savage Gear Soft 4play 7.5" - Has had a hook put into it but no fish Selling as a lot for 35$, paypal only.
  7. I fish my glides on braid with a lot of success, but I'm one of those odd balls. You can fish heavier line with less line drag due to smaller diameter and I like the control I have to manipulate the bait due to the line not giving. I personally have yet to cast off a lure, but I grew up muskie fishing big baits with braid. You also have to loosen your drag and not have it wrenched down if your fishing braid to help with the no stretch factor. Really comes down to personal preference, but the majority of guys will say fish mono or fluoro. I have seen more guys cast off baits with mono then I ever have with braid so do what works for you. Anyways, to me your better off picking a glide or 2 that you like and really learning those few baits instead of having a bunch that you only fish here and there and never really learn how to fish. There is much more to it then casting and reeling slow. R&R made a great point about pumping the rod upward. I did this a lot the past year and caught a lot of fish doing it. Also getting those baits in and around cover, if your not peeing yourself a bit from thinking your going to lose them then your not putting them in the right spot many times. Like Jesse said try killing the bait to get them to eat and after a long pause adding in a 1/4 reel crank or pop your rod tip. For me I have caught more fish killing the bait then I have speeding up.
  8. I'd say fish it without shaving right away and see how you do. I fish all my Gan Crafts out of the box and they get bit. I also have 2 wrapped from Grady in perch and you won't be disappointed.
  9. 178 is a good bait and gets bit. the 230 is a nice bait as well I just don't fish it as often.
  10. Deps 175-250 or a Gan craft 178-230 depending on how big you want to go.
  11. I like the added graphics. Gives it a bit of an educational component to it. Always cool to see what types of structure guys are targeting to find bigger fish.
  12. I have a few SS and you can work it in that 6"-2' range. Easier to maintain that 1-2' range though if your going to work it slow. I like the idea of a floater with lead tape or suspend dots for the shallower water. Think I'll do this to 1 of mine this year. Good info guys.
  13. For the Deps 175 I always tie to the split ring. On the GC 178 i have caught fish tied direct and to the snap but personally like the action better with the snap. As Waynem said line size is a bigger concern and also having a rod that has some give in the tip and will load with those smaller glides has made a big difference for me.
  14. 1) Break the 7lb mark in MN 2) Win a SUB monthly tournament with fish above (not sure if anyone from the upper midwest has done so?) 3) Learn, learn, learn. More time on the water chucking swimbaits.
  15. Merry Christmas SU and to all your families!
  16. Gan craft 178, jackall gantarel, bbz rat, okuma guide select 7'11" heavy, and a TW gift card. Not bad considering the only thing I asked for was the rod. Hope you guys all have a Merry Christmas.
  17. Doin' work man! Nice fish Grady
