  1. Looks like a turd with hooks.
  2. Morning SU, Its cool to see swimbait builds on this sight. I wish I had this sight back in 2005 when I started making baits, im sure I would have improved much faster. I know for sure I said a few times F-this im done trying to make baits, cuz they looked like ish, didn't swim right and were not catching any fish. Then a couple years ago I started catching a few bass on some of my smaller baits and repaints, I got my confidence back a little, started rethinking some builds and started making the big baits again with some outstanding success. Anyway thats some of my trip with bait making. Here is some of my very first baits, I keep them hanging right in front of me by my little work station. Here is the two latest bait for casting, tested one, the light green 10 inch, its about an ROF 5 and the swimming action is pretty solid. Tight line maaaaaan

  8. Looks like fun, like some kind of mad scientist experiment, cool deal.
  9. Nice fish bro, good job.
  10. No, im using US Composites 635 epoxy resin, they are based out of Palm Beach, Florida. I am definately going with a couple of coats next time.
  11. Thanks brotha, Ill take a look at tackle underground.
  12. The nine inch is going to get some paint today.
  13. Good morning all, Just finished "The Beast" a 12 inch big bass wrecking ball. These wood baits are hard to seal up, usually I will put the bait underwater for a few hours to let it expand, then dry paint and seal. When I tested it out at the lake, it ran great but it looked like it expaned a little further and cracked the paint job quit a bit in various places. I was experimenting with a new epoxy resin, I have been using the two ton devcon and that has worked pretty good, maybe I have to use two coats with the new stuff. Any advice on a good sealer thats cost effective would very appreciated. Here is the beast and a link to a 8.7 I caught earlier this month. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW0lBjyQExY Tight lines
  14. Looks real good, hope the ice melts soon for ya.
  15. Good morning all, Im trying to send a vid from fri with little success, I hope to get it to you soon here is some sexy photos of the new swimbaits, 5in bluegill aka perris punisher and 10in trout that were used on fri.
  16. Good morning all, Went to Perris yesterday to catch some toads on some new JDS13's I had just finished. I put them in, they ran pretty good, so down they went. Its always a relief when my baits run well on the first try. Weather was cloudy with light winds, everything I like for some hogs. Saw a lot of fish shallow 15 to 25ft, I almost wanted to throw the creature bait on the C rig, but instead threw the hudd 12 for a while for nothin. It was a little past noon and im flat line trolling in 20 ft over by Sail Cove and I look up and my rod is totally bent, I thought I was snagged then my rod kinda does that bounce motion, its a big bass, I look back she's jumping and its a toad and then nothin, she just came off o well win some lose some. I made a few more passes in that general area for nothin, time to go deep. Lots of big fish at the trench in 40 ft, first pass hook up, its a good one, then he gets off, what the hell!, reset next pass hook up, bigger fish, it gets off too, three fish in the time frame of about 15 min, wow! I felt like doing that dumb and dumber thing when hes falling asleep at the wheel and just slap the crap out of myself. Any who, reset and back through that same area bam! hook-up, normally I dont set the hook much on the troll, but this time I did, its a good fish, work it to the boat and I net a 8.7 lbs, finally on the board. Take a little video and back down she goes. I set up, go back through, bingo! a 5.8 lbs. No more action on the JDS. I still see alot of at 40 ft so I just had to see, sometimes those big bass hit the little swimbaits. I send a little three inch shad lure down along with a 5 inch blugill and bam fish on, its about 2 lbs. I then proceed to catch about 4 more 2 lbs fish. I stop and just run the big baits, when I take friends fishing I like to knock the rust off with a couple smaller fish instead of dude, you might get one shot today at a trophy bass, good luck. Hopefully this is a sign that larger numbers of big fish are getting active. The peak time for me today was from 12 to about 2 then it went dead. I dont know if the one giant I lost today would have been a PB, so the mission goes on.
  17. Cool bro those are some nice.

ATFISHING123, To answer your question, yes that is a sabre rod and diawa reel, my baits are wood and weigh 10 and 12 ounces and are between 10 and 12 inches. At this stage in my swimbait making and fishing I troll alot, theres just no way im hucking that big ass bait all day, besides the fins are to big and thin, if you notice alot of big baits have small fins or no fins at all. Just about every time I catch a giant bass one of my baits a fin gets ripped off, its all good I just take it home and repair it. When I used to live in San Diego as a Marine I would go down to Lake Murray and cast a ROF 12 hudd all day and at the end I was totally smoked. I would come and the wife would be like why are you so tired you just fished all day, Id be like biiiiitch, anyway not casting much at this time. I do plan to make some lighter and stronger baits in the future for casting, just not there yet.

Thanks SU for the cool comments, the top fish was caught in January it went 10.10 the other fish were caught in Dec. The picture with three were part of a 48 and change pound five fish limit my biggest to date all caught on the JDS13. My main bait for that day was 11in. Its cool to finally have some big baits that I make catch some toads, its taken awhile to get it right ie, weight, action, shape and paint job. Im always still tweekin and refining my baits. I wish I could make swimbaits for a livnig, but for now im just stoked with catching monster bass and some day maybe making enough to to cover gas cost and entry fees to support my fishing addiction. I plan on going to Perris this week hopefully to get a PB on the JDS13. Hopefully, God willing ill have something to show ya all.

]Good afternoon all, I am a new member and look forward to talking about catching the green monster. I have been swimbait fishing off and on for about 10 years, and trying to make my own swimbaits for about 6 yrs. Lately my baits, the JDS13 have been wrecking some huge toads over at Perris lake in Hemet CA. Hopefully these pics load up. These are some fish from Dec and Jan
