What baits do you use for fishing deep...
charlie.m.jr replied to Dirtroadhound's topic in The Underground
I've had some success with a fast sink bull shad on ledges. Like stated here, you can't be afraid to lose them and you also have to have the patience to let it sink down. I live on a ledge lake as well and have played around with this for several years. Hard baits are hard to keep down unless you use something to weight them and I don't like doing that. Also if there is a lot of current it will affect how well you can keep a hard bait down. Some current is not too bad, but on KY lake they sometimes tend to over do it, and when it is ripping you just can't fish them deep. In strong current it is even hard to keep a Hudd or other swimbait down from my experience. -

Anybody heard from Jason St. Mary/Phoney Frog USA???
charlie.m.jr replied to pzoutdoors's topic in The Underground
I feel your pain. I've been on the waiting list since February as well and sporadically emailed Jason with no response. I found out that there was an email mishap and then he had some personal things going on as well. I reached out to Tommy " Gina's Man " and he promptly emailed me back and has kept me in the loop anytime I've emailed him. I believe they are working on the shop and are fixing to get back into production. Hopefully it won't be much longer and they'll get back to cranking out baits. -
I throw Hudds on an 806 or a 796 Dobyns. Most people here may think I'm silly for throwing them on a rod most would consider to use solely on trebled baits, but I like a rod with a lot of give in the tip that still has plenty of backbone. For me personally I don't lose near as many fish with a rod that is parabolic or has lots of tip as I do with a broomstick style that most people use for jig hook baits. I use the same principle applied to lures other than swimbaits as well. I fish football jigs and big worms offshore on a long parabolic rod as well. For me it's a confidence thing knowing that I do have a rod with the backbone I need, but also one that has enough play in it to stay loaded if a fish jumps or some give if a fish surges near the boat.

Great guy to deal with. Sold me a bait I had been looking for at a great price. Had shipping receipt within about 10 minutes of sending pay pal info. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again.

I just wanted to take a minute and give a huge shout out to BigSlant. He hooked me up on a bait I had been looking for and didn't charge me the flipper price for it either. I sent him pay pal info, and within 10 minutes he sent me a copy of the receipt where it was shipped. Awesome guy to deal with and he did me a huge favor. I appreciate it and wanted to say thank you again. Awesome guy to deal with if anyone has something pending with him

Tommy ( ginasman) , thanks for the updates on this. I have emailed Jason a few times too just trying to make sure that I didn't miss the payment email and I too got no responses. Thanks for clearing up that there were email problems and other outside factors. I don't have instagram but sent Jason a message on Facebook. As long as I haven't missed anything or owe ya'll money, I am fine with the wait and I thank you for the update.

I throw all of mine either on an older All pro swimbait rod or a Dobyn's 795. The all pro is like a giant version of a crankbait rod with lots of a$$ behind it, and if you stick a fish on that rod they just don't come off.
