Did the stinger help your hook up ratio?

What do you guys think what happen. A. 4-5lb class bass so she couldn't engulfed the mag B. Bite from the top behind the hook. C. Try to eat tail first The hit was a tick than slack line. This year been tough for me. Lost 3 huddleston. Missed 4 fish on the hook set. Only 1 fish 6.6lbs caught and released.

Thanks for all the advice. It could of been a number of reason that lead up to the snap line. This fish got me questioning what I know about swimbait fishing even causing me to lose a fish the very next day because of a weak hook set. The first time I snap my line cause me to change my leader on every fishing trip, change my leader if I notice anything wrong with it, and after I caught a fish on it. The aera where I was fishing didn't have much structure just a weed line, hand size rocks, small broken branches and diving ducks pushing the trout near shore(they all flew away when I got there).

I think it's a fish of a life time. Last year I was using seaguar abrazx 25lb as a leader to 80lb braided line and the knot I use to tie the hudd on double San Diego jam knot. The line broke in the middle of that leader. New line tie on the night before. So I bump it up to 30lb mono I had no issue with any hook set until a few days ago. I think it was the same fish. My set up is a moderate taper heavy action rod with a 301 curado. This fish got my number.

Here's what happen 15 minutes into fishing I felt a tick when my lure is 6feet away the line slack and shots out left I set to the right I felt the weight of the fish and than snaps. I use a Palomar knot, the line was new and I'm from CA. What pound line you guys think I should move up too?
