  1. This is my favorite prespawn pond bait. I've caught everything for 8 inch to 3 pounds on it at a local pond one day. No big girls yet, but it seems to have a place in my prespawn arsenal. I fish it on a 7 foot medium heavy with 15lbs fluorocarbon. I did swap the hook for a 4x vmc spark point. I think it was a size smaller than the stock hook, but that was to keep the action it came with. It is a wood bait, so make sure it dries properly before storing it. The paint job is insane. I wish the fur used in the fins were a little stiffer. I burn it, crash it into a rock or stump, and pause. When it starts to rise is when I usually get hammered.
  2. Realism of the dead twitch with the joint moved closer to center. I can get the dead twitch to glide, I can only imagine the action that gets imparted by moving the joint to center. I wonder if the price will stay reasonably close to the dead twitch, or will the glide craze be adding more to the price tag?
  3. Great doing business with him. Baits shipped quickly and were in impeccable condition.
  4. Good ol' 8 inch Huddleston deluxe will win it.
  5. I'm saying 11lbs 13oz. And I'll like to see the Don take it. He's had an amazing year.
  6. Is sniper available in 1\4 pound spools? I've only seen filler spools.
  7. I use seaguar red label. Its affordable, and I respool often. I don't like vicious or bps. The large diameters have too much memory for my liking. I haven't used either of those brands in years, so it may be alot better now. Pline PF seems to be popular for the price, but its not a fluorocarbon. Does anyone here have experience with Berkley 100% fluorocarbon? Seems like it may be a good alternative to more expensive brands.
  8. I already planned on making a smaller version, half the width with a different style rod holder. I did add a bungee going across the top and bottom for extra security and it allows me to carry the rod rack fully loaded down lake side without the fear of them falling out.
  9. Well, Thank you all again. Here's what I came up with. It easily holds 4 rods and a net without getting tangled. I took it out today and it sits off the side at a 45 degree angle and fully loaded with rods and net, weighs in at 6 pounds 4 ounces. I will paint it to ensure it last longer, and I'm thinking of adding some kind of a net to the framework.
  10. Well thank you very much. That's exactly what I needed to hear. I'll be getting the cement tomorrow.
  11. Will the cement hold alot of weight without the elbows breaking free? I'm thinking 4-5 rods and a net. I was thinking about loctite 2 part marine epoxy.
  12. Easy question. What cement, adhesive or epoxy do you guy recommend for your PVC builds? I went to Lowe's and the guy in plumbing suggested an epoxy, and the guy in hardware suggested the cement in plumbing. What are your recommendations?
  13. Great review. I may look into getting one of these. I was keeping one of those BPS Trophy Plus glass rods as a 2 piece packable rod for trips but they are heavy and still close to 4 feet per section.
  14. I'm looking for a rat, mouse, possum or any other large terrestrial bait. I would like to stay under $50. PM me what you have. Have a few baits to trade if necessary.
  15. Keep your head up and think positive. I had a terrible start to the year. Then, 2 weeks ago, everything lined up. In one day, I got one on a 6 inch perch hudd, another on an 8 inch hudd rainbow, and one on a 7 inch o.b. Minnow all in 2 hours. All small, but that gave me my confidence to chuck and wind til my arms fall off. Nice to see you finally get one.
  16. Great job. Get ready to upgrade your gear soon. If you keep catching solid fish, that reel will just grenade on you you. And definitely get a scale.
  17. I haven't been weighing my 2-3 pounders thinking I'd get my butt kicked.
  18. That sucks, but at least it didn't get wasted.
