First day out for the season. No Kayak today; just a few casts from shore to test out a new spot. Last years line was still on the spool. I almost didn't bring my scale, I had to turn around and grab it...JUST IN CASE. Due to the unknown structure, I went with a weedless 316 Rising Sun. I threw some casts near a waterfall a few feet from where current would pull it toward the edge. I will say, I had zero confidence with the Rising Sun--I had never caught a fish on it until BOOM!!! She hit like a Mack truck and fought harder than expected in the chilly water. Pulling here in on land is much easier than in a kayak. The New PB went 6lbs 1oz. Beat my previous Mass. PB of 5lbs 7oz. A Good Start to the 2019 season! Tight Lines!!

Nice. Ya don't see a lot of posts with fish on the mini. I use mine occasionally, same issue, bad hookup ratio. Fall New England bass!! I've had a terrible year so far.

Love that rat. I have the black one, and my brother has that Morning Dawn purple color, and his gets hit more than mine, even in clear MA water. That rat is Great at night. Keep the spare tails, tweezers and toothpicks in your gear because those tails do fall off after a few big fish, and that's half the bait.

Move to TX or Cali!! haha! Spring fishing is tough in MA (60 one day, 80 degrees the next), I cant catch anything either right now. Slammers at night with a full moon gets it done for me. Ditto on the trout eaters. It's all relative to me, anything in MA over 5 is awesome. Anything in double digits is a record in my opinion. I think the MA record is like 15lb from like 1975. Big Baits : Hero or Zero brother! Just one more cast...
