Dean is the man. Buy or sell with absolute confidence. This time around I bought a bait from him. Bait came fast and in great shape, and communication was excellent.
  2. Looking for a shallow diving meathead in perch (just looking for this particular model, unless you have a deep diver), and a medium perch (from the most recent release) in bright perch in any of the sinking models (XSS, SS or MS). Mostly looking to buy, but if you're only willing to trade just let me know what you'd need. Thanks guys.
  3. A lot of the ponds I fish from shore in my area are extremely weed-choked, so I know your pain. I also love fishing my glides, so I've done a lot of experimenting with different rigging options to made them more weed friendly. I've done of lot of tinkering with gan crafts in particular, like rubber-banding or using stick on magnets to push the hooks up against the body, using those single hooks that you see on SW plugs with homemade weed guards, etc. I fish over the top of shallow weed beds a lot, so I'll use floaters (w/ fluoro) or slow sinkers (w/ 20+ lb mono), and just experiment with things like hook size, lead tape and different test lines to get it dialed in where I want it. I used to lean towards the slow sinks more, but recently have been using the floaters based on what I've read on here. If you're fishing in a lot of slime though, it's pretty tough to avoid getting your baits hung up or bogged down. No matter what, if you're throwing glides in these areas, you will still be picking off weeds. With a little tinkering and patience though, you can still fish them pretty effectively. For weed-choked places I've found that billed baits are a much friendlier choice than glides. If you get the hang of it, you can use the bills to push through the weeds like little bulldozers, especially if you're dealing with stuff like thick pads. I've had success with a bunch of different wake baits doing this like. Wake Jrs., Baby wakes, slammers, pats, roman tricks, etc. It requires a bit of a mental adjustment, because intuition says not to throw trebled baits right smack into thick weeds, but a lot of these baits are surprisingly successful at plowing through them. And it's a great way to call up big sluggish fish that are buried in there waiting for a meal.
  4. Nice fish man! What kind of reel is that? Looks sweet.
  5. Like Jeremy said, an inch or two of lead tape should definitely do the trick to give it a little bit of keel. Fluoro definitely helps too with that, I'm running it on 20 lb tatsu, and it's a match made in heaven. The bait is such a fish catcher. I've only chucked it from shore so far, and got a couple of 4+ lbers on it the last few days. I've also caught everything from 12-13 inch dinks to big pickerel off of it. Also had a wolf pack of huge crappie and perch follow it around a few times (a couple even swiped at it), which was pretty wild to see. Haven't had an opportunity to get the kayak out, and fish the bait on some better big bass spots. But once the big girls around here put their feed bag on in the next couple of weeks, it's going to be dynamite! I'm not a tournament fisherman, but if I was, I'd pack these in the boat. Haven't been this excited for a bait in a long time.
  6. Haha, same here. I was going to see if he had any deps 250 with the top hot and mustache mod. Guarantee he has one in "storage".
  7. I have a ton of conventional tackle that just sits in storage bins, a lot of BNIP stuff. Shame to see it just sitting around not being fished. Any suggestions on sites where I can put some of it up for sale? SU is the only fishing forum I belong to. I know there are other reputable sites out there, just thought I'd throw a feeler out there to see if anyone has one that they'd recommend in particular before I narrow it down through trial and error. Thanks guys.
  8. No better way to verify if something is a scam than to ask for a pic with the bait wearing a hat and mustache.
  9. Gorgeous pike! Nice and fat. I'll be searching for those on the CT river the next few weeks. Great work.
  10. Just looking to see if anyone has a new or used Gantarel or two (full sized, not the jr./chibitarel) that they'd be willing to let go in the $30 range. It's alright if it has some mojo on it. Thanks.
  11. Clayton's work is legit! Can't wait to take these out for a swim this weekend. Baits look even better in person.
  12. Random question, but is that a ~2010 civic? Just traded mine in a few months ago, but that dash looks awfully familiar. I miss the incredibly strange looks I used to get driving around new york city with a small car packed with fishing gear. They were even better when I used to car-top my pro angler on it haha. The setups on this page are just ridiculous. Need to put more time/funds into building up my own dream team.
  13. I cannot wait to see this massive collection of baby wakes! Very happy to know that one of my former baby wakes now resides at Dean's baby wake ranch! Frolicking in the fields with the other baby wakes of course. Bump for a great dude.
  14. First batch of weedless rising sons has NOT disappointed. Absolutely loving them so far. So of course had to buy enough to last a nuclear winter on that second preorder
  15. I wasn't crazy about the price either, but I just got mine in the mail and it's a ridiculously nice paint job. Pictures don't do it justice at all. The flash is very impressive. It's going swimming this weekend, and as long as it runs true I'll feel a lot better about the premium price tag.
  16. Haha nice, the shrapnel is next on my hit list. What brand copoly are you using?
  17. I'm actually going to fish a fairly similar setup. pairing mine with a z2020H, and was thinking about 20-25 copoly or fluoro. Just haven't decided on line yet.
  18. beautiful, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear! Thanks man, appreciate the info.
  19. How accurate are the weight ratings for the H rods? I'm curious if it can handle trebled baits in the 5-6 oz range.
  20. Over/under for the amount of PMs saying they'll take the HPH: 15. I'll take the over. Free bump, good luck with the sale!
  21. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing some tips. Now I'm drooling even more for these to come in!
  22. Watch this video: It's an awesome tutorial on how to fish glides. Every glide is different (wider/narrower glide, more/less responsive, sink rate etc.) but a lot of what they talk about in there applies to fishing most glides. And don't be afraid to just get out there a chuck em, you'll develop a feel for them through repetition.
  23. It's going to be extremely difficult for me to ever take this bait off the line. Cannot wait!
  24. Yeah, I received it about two weeks after I ordered it. I was completely surprised when I received it actually, because I thought it was just a preorder.
