Got an early start on my day off this past Monday. Of course, forgot my trolling motor in the driveway. Shot across the pond and picked up my net muscle Zoots21. 5 casts in he hooks into a big dog, unfortunately the 7+ shakes the pats just outside of my reach. I switch up to the phat pats and hook up instantly, again, a 5+ shakes the bait, awesome. I let the area cool down and go without a bite for 2 hours, at this point we are just drifting with the breeze. We come back and start nailing them. A couple 3's and he hits a 4'11. 5 minutes later I get smoked, she went 5'7 and won me the monthly tourney. A couple casts later I get blown up on a crank into my retrieve, another good fish at 4'11. Best day by far all year, wish we could have got the first two but that's fishing.

I go straight braid ... I've thought in the past about fishing with a flouro leader but I fish next to a guy who fishes mono and flouro only and I definitely DON'T get less hits using straight braid, 40 lb at that.

I have mine spooled with 40 lb power pro.... love the reel it can definitely handle enough lline
