  1. The 21/22 200 don’t have a synchro level wind but they gave it the full mgl treatment, added infinity drive and made them smaller. Well worth the upgrade over the 14/15 conquest 200. The new bantam got the same upgrade as the new conquest.
  2. I would look at a high gear ratio
  3. I second what 5-20 said. I would just slap a Tranx 400 on it and pack it with 50 or 65lbs Maxcuatro and call it a day. A sx would feel kind of wonky on that rod. I use to have a 7’6” phenix black diamond inshore that I had a SXJ on, it worked for what I wanted it to do but felt so awkward that it got sold and I opted for a curado 300EJ at the time.
  4. Welcome to the world of Daiwa. If you hold your index finger under the front of the reel when retrieving it will cause the line to come up and onto the wide part of the T-wing causing the line to stack to one side or another depending on if you are right or left handed. Next time you are out try retrieving with your index finger either under the blank or just on the side of the reel seat vs up under the front of the reel.
  5. This is what I use, just wish simms had more dividers they could sell. https://www.simmsfishing.com/products/gts-reel-vault
  6. Well than didn’t last more than 2 weeks from this post
  7. The action has something to do with it a little bit but blank material plays a bigger part. As you go up in higher modulus graphite to achieve more sensitivity and lighter weight the more brittle they become. Shimano, Megabass, Daiwa have got around this issue with using spiral X/high power x ect, Megabass P5 blanks, and Daiwa SVF Compile-X/X45 construction to increased hoop strength and keep the black round under load vs becoming a over and snapping
  8. Sty-35mf are short shank ewg with a unique hook point orientation so they lay flatter on the bait. A size 1/0 is the same over all length as a size 1 st-36 but are the weight of an owner st-41.
  9. I run 1g on the TK just in front of the joint. It almost make the baits a suspend and hang there when you dead walk it. You can run 1g on the TK for the dead slow technique that Geoff was talking about and keep the bait down in the winter. A little less weight than 1g in the winter will all the tk to be a super super slow float
  10. I don’t think most big tuna guys on the west coast use this complicated knot over the SD jam knot or Palomar. Most of them stick with the time tested and proven knots.
  11. It’s a very interesting knot. I’ve seen a few jdm anglers use it and wondered what knot it was. I would love to see how that knot stacks up against a double SD jam knot.
  12. Please serious buyers only
  13. On the lower end around the $200 you have Phenix M1 SMX-C 711MH Inshore, Irod Kaimana SWK804. If you want to spend a little more you can step up to a Megabass Levante Leviathan
  14. If you are talking hard baits. I run 65lbs PowerPro Maxcuatro to 2-3’ 25lbs Sunline FC system shock leader for baits up to 5oz. Softbaits it’s straight 20lbs Sunline FC Sniper. On a 6” setup are you taking line or rod/reel? If rod and reel what is your budget, hardbait/softbait or just all around?
  15. DRT TK low Magic Shad. Will come with stock lip and tail. $120tyd PayPal F&F only
  16. Another one to look at that’s money for the 4oz baits is the leviathan omega H. That’s what I used till I picked up the cookai.
  17. NP. The cookai is a pretty dope rods that’s a touch softer than the blackjack with true lure ratings. Have you reached out to the hookup and picked their brain on the raid undertaker?
  18. Megabass Cookai CK710EXHC. It’s pretty much a Megabass blackjack on a diet that doesn’t punch above its weight class. It’s light, crisp and sensitive. The only downside is it’s a 2pc.
