Sweet!  Did you try burning a swimbait on the surface?

Yes, but I think everything I had was too big. Going back next week with some smaller swimmers.....

I guess they'r not technically swimbaits, but I sure had a blast catching these peacocks on woodchoppers.

 

Couldn't get any any swimbait love, but I'm going back next week with some smaller swimbaits I think I can work fast enough to get chewed.

 

[Trout Fishing?]

I'm heading down to Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas today for a few days hoping to catch some trout in the 8 acre lake they have there. I feel obligated to bring a swimbait rod and a handful of baits in hopes there are some bass hanging around. If I have any luck with the swimabits I'll throw some pics up on Friday!

 

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that lake was bone dry a couple years ago.........

[How do you carry fishing rods with truck?]

Best way to do it is to make your own. I made some for my car and truck and it's a piece of cake.

 

All it takes is some 6" schedule 40 PVC pipe from a local plumbing supply store, and a conduit carrying kit off amazon.

 

Cut the pipe to desired length, take it to a local shop that sprays bed liners and have them coat it, screw the front and rear caps in with self tappers and mount them up using the included u-bolts and brackets.

I use lure tape often, but oddly enough never thought of using red in a joint.
