  1. Nothing cinematic in this vid, pure cast to catch. Savage Shine Glide and Megabass MagSlowl, 21.2lbs. More talk in the "Flipside" http://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/topic/38816-peacock-meat-bag/&do=findComment&comment=308496
  2. Thanks for the kind words! Here's the mash up...
  3. I thought the aggressive behavior of spots/smallmouth were untouchable but boy was I wrong, peas blow them out of the water. Too bad they are not a "real" bass
  4. It was a blast for sure, may just start fishing for them exclusively and LM will become bycatch instead of vice versa.
  5. Smacked 21.2lbs of peas on a Megabass Mag Slowl and a Savage Shine Glide...these fish put largemouth to shame. I had 2 over 5; a 5.8 and a 5.04, pair of 4s and change and a 3 and change. A lot of swipers on the shine glide that didnt get buttoned up. I'll add a montage when I edit all of the clips together but here is a little teaser...
  6. Good looks with the 316 little booger, that profile is really what I'm looking for. I want to try to stay away from the trout profile that is multi jointed, too meaty.
  7. I think 6in is a little bigger than what I'm looking for, but that's TBD. Not actually using them for LM, going after peacocks. They seem to be a little big bait shy, there mouths are bigger than a spots but a lot smaller than a LM. Their "teeth" are a lot sharper/abrasive than any LM I have ever caught. Smacked 21lbs of peas yesterday on a magslowl and no amount of mend it could save it
  8. I'm looking for the most durable line through that is relatively cheap. About the size of a megabass magslowl, the small one, which I believe is 5in. Small profile, slow sink, any recommendations?
  9. Change the hooks/rings before you lose a giant, they may look good but a 4lber will easily straighten them.
  10. There is a plethora of combined knowledge on this site, not sure if it's possible for any single person to know it all. Another benefit in my eyes would be very specific questions about a region. For example when I lived in Georgia I fished a lot of lakes that blueback herring were the main forage source, makes the bass behave in wild ways that differ from anywhere else in the country. I wouldn't want John Doe from Wisconsin who fishes perch based lakes answering my questions about swimbaits in my area.
  11. Like many others, I don't want to see "the main page" cluttered.
  12. Like I said, I'd enjoy sharing my boat with someone who is interested in swimbaiting even if we are not fishing with them at that moment. The sub forum, down time, doesn't receive nearly as much traffic, if I were looking for someone to fish with I'd like that post to be seen by as many people as possible to increase the chances of having a co angler. Sure I do post on bbc, Bass resource, etc but those who are familiar with swimbaits are few and far between. In my eyes if you aren't willing to progress and diversify, you are destined for failure.
  13. I throw swimbaits. not 24/7 but I would like to share the boat with someone else that shares that interest so we can pick each other's brain, even if we are flipping mats. Clearly you do not want to see any post not directly related to swimbaits in "The underground". So why not diversify? There is no need to be such a snowflake about it. Myself and others would like the opportunity to communicate in a region based sub forum to discuss swimbaits, possible meet ups, fishing in general, what beer tastes best on the water, etc etc; without bombarding "The Underground". If it does happen you may be able to learn something from someone in a different region, for example the California delta shares some similarities with Florida lakes, vegetation similarities at least and if I were to browse the "West Coast" forum I may be able to learn how someone dissects a flat w/ scattered mats with a glide bait or a big weedless soft body. I see no negatives in expanding into regional sub-forums.
  14. I caught a handful dinks out of several mats, but realistically the mats i was fishing were a little shallow for my liking. I am a big fan of depth 3.5-4.5ft. But Ive caught them from under a mat in 2ft of water. The colder it is the thicker the vegetation they will sit in. The front is about gone and the pressure should return to normal, its was high the past 3 days. You should be able to put a hurting on them with a swimjig/chatterbaits, and the always tried and true senko.
  15. How would it be a nightmare? This forum is relatively small to others, such as bassboatcentral and there are dozens of sub-forums there. That site sees a lot more daily traffic than this one and it is ran extremely well.
  16. Dead on for staging depth, Id even look in 6ft. This front pushed them off the flats. I have seen dozens of empty beds in 1-2ft thus far today. Water temp was 59 at 730am and 66 as of 130pm. I'd guess it's about 3-6° cooler in Tampa. Also spent 2 hrs getting unstuck. It's awesome when you can run on pad into an area then realize it's 14inches deep and have to troll out! Getting a drink at Roland's tiki bar then going back out to catch a fat sow.
  17. Gotcha, sorry I misread your post JC. I expect the water to be in the low 60s, high 50s at dawn then rise to the high 60s in the afternoon. The latest wave of spawners will have been pushed off I would think. The clear sky is certainly helping the water get warm in the day but the lack of clouds at night doesn't retain any of the heat. It'll be a crap shoot tomorrow, if I stick one good one out of a mat I will be happy. Of course I'd rather stumble upon a 25lb bag of mat monkeys.
  18. Cut the wrong tag end of my line, thrown my bait in the water and watched it sink to the bottom. It's happened several times
  19. I appreciate it JC, I'm putting in at Slims, I'll report back on on how I do! If you ever need a co lemme know!
  20. Respectfully, I am going to pass on walking the bank. I don't find it very enjoyable anymore. It's like having a corvette in your garage but deciding to ride your bicycle to work. Caught an 8 a couple weeks ago, several 6s. But I have decided to go to the O, breaking out the meat sticks with the big big 2.25oz an 2.5oz weights and am going to flip the nastiest, thickest mats I can find.
  21. Just checked Palm Bay, 38 Monday. Disgusting, I thought I had gotten away from the cold weather
  22. The lowest I am seeing in the forecast for Clewiston is a low of 44 Monday according to weather.com Up in Georgia, where I just moved from, this little front wouldn't do much to the fish but I know down here they get lockjaw real bad
  23. I went to the FLW weigh in today at chobee, seems it is fishing tough with this front. Apparently the flipping bite was few and far between. A handful of guys caught em well on swimjigs, chatterbaits, bigEZ.
