Well swimbaiting isnt for everyone.Ive put about 8 trips in so far (6-8 hour tips) this season throwing some kind of big swimbait about 75% of the time..Ive had about a handful of bites,a handful of followers and caught about 7 of a small hudd weedless shad (really not a swimbaits) ,two on matt lures 4inch bluegill,and only two on a six inch bbz..So ive def gotten bit but nothings over 2.50 yet.. ive throw: 6"bbz 8" triple trout 6"and8" hudds 7"slammer 7" river to sea s waver and smaller swimbaits Im looking to try and break five pounds this season,Ill do it on a big swimbait! I mean confidence is everything def with these big swimbaits Before I even get out on the water I have my mind set that im gonna throw a big SB all day or at least half of it and if I dont get bit so be it..

Well I got my okuma 711 extra heavy rod in the other day rigged it up and used to it today,,Man its a stiff rod I havent used a rod of this size or power yet..I put my 8inch triple trout on it.I think the bait is alittle to light for it,it doesnt load up that well..Im guessing should throw only 4oz and up bait on it.whatcha guys think?

Hey guys a update.. I ended up ordering a 711 extra heavy okuma big bait rod.and another cardiff reel..It will get the job done for now.I just wanna make sure I stick with this swimbait thing,so if I do I will later get a nice big bait rod

I think im gonna order the okuma 711 ectra heavy for the big hudds..Its in the price im looking for..plus im new to this swimbait thing.I wanna make sure I stick with it..So if i do ill get a nice rod later on this season or next.. thanks alot for all the info guys!

not sure if i can afford a dobyns right now..the rod i throw my big baits on now can not handle a 8inch so i will def need a rod and reel..I need to get both at the same time.. So if u guys had to choose one of these rods which would it be? Okuma Irod

wow thanks for all the input guys! yea i will be fishing all j hook hudd.weedless ones too will the 807 throw a 68 hudd or is that bait to light?

it doesnt over power the 806?..is a 807 to heavy duty? how does the 806 compare to the irod large swimbait rod and okuma big bait rods?

I am a dobyns guy.. whats the best rod under $300 for a fishing 8inch hudds with the stock j hook?

is it a bad idea to with this bait with trebles on straight braid,or should i really tie a mono leader?
